So I called my dietician...

And she said that 800 calories was way too low unless all I was doing was laying in bed all day lol. She said I should aim for 1000-1200 per day,  more towards 1200 when I am exercising. Yay I feel so much better! All I've eaten today is a protein shake, cottage cheese doubles, and a banana and I'm already at 400 calories. 800 was sounding way too low!

Thanks everyone :)
And thanks for reminding me to call my dietician, Patrece!
Hugs,

I am glad you called too.  We want you healthy, happy and upbeat.  Gotta feed the muscles to keep them working.  Follow your plan and I see great things for you.  Any plans for the weekend?

Your welcome Sukie. This is why I added the disclaimer.. I researched and the answer I found over and over was the 600 to 800. But it is always best to listen to the nutritionist and doc you work with.  Thats why we so often end up saying.. check with you doc! Sorry for getting you in an uproar... I am going to talk to my surgeon and get some band info to help me help banders better. Thanks for bearing with me Sukie! But really I did find that 6 to 8 hundred per day in several places. They must be extremists.

Np Patrece, I found the 800 cals in several places also, that's why I was freaking out. Even that book "The expert't guide to weight loss surgery" said under 1000 calories. I have lots of basic info that I can photocopy and send to you if you're interested...just lmk.

Hugs Ladies!

Wow!  must be the difference with the band.  I actually got told I was eating too many calories at my post op appt.  I was 4 weeks out and consuming between 550-750.  They said I'd have better results at the low end of those calories.   But I had RNY.

Wow that's so weird how our doctors give us such different advice.  I wonder if mine was the usual answer or the dietician told me what she thought I needed. She was concerned that if  ate too little I'd go into starvation mode and not lose. Interesting....

I've noticed they often give different advice.  Who knows?  I think it's wise to follow our own doctors and nutritionists.  Good luck!
