Empowering Messages

Hello Everyone!  Sorry I have been absent from the boards...I've been soooo busy with tons of stuff, including doing everything to be as ready as possible, physically and mentally, for my surgery.  IT IS NOW ONLY THREE DAYS AWAY!!!!!!  :)

One of the things I am been working on is cultivating positive and empowering messages (mantras, if you will) for when those doubts or limiting beliefs start creeping into my thinking.  You know those limiting belies....like "I can't do this", "I am too set in my ways to make the changes I need to make", etc.  The messages that our fear and uncertainty slip into our thoughts on occassion...and sometimes, for some, more often than not.

I was hoping to get the empowering messages you tell yourself...especially those of you who have gone through this emotional roller coaster right before surgery...to remind yourself of why we are doing this.  Some of the one that have really been good for me are:

"The risks of this surgery are far less than the risks of not doing it."

"I am worth all the hard work that this will entail....it's time to get rid of a focus on food and create and hold on to a focus on health and on a healthy me."

"I have eaten enough comfort foods to last a life time.  Now I will get comfort from knowing that I am respecting my body and getting healthy."

...and a bunch of others.  But, I would be very interested in hearing YOURS.  :)

Thank you in advance for sharing your EMPOWERING BELIEFS!

The food tatses good, but for a moment. The good choices pay off for a lifetime.

This is one I believe in fully. Will share more when I actually wake up. Thank you for sharing yours! It could go a long way in helping others as well!
Hugs

I read this on another board this morning:

"The important thing is to keep your eyes on the prize--better health and a longer life, to spend with your loved ones--and enjoying your ability to climb stairs, go for a walk or a run without DYING, walk all day at an amusement park and actually fit on the rides, see the look of desire in your partner's face...the advantages are endless."

It reminded me of something I read on one of the boards quite awhile back.  It was posted by a gentleman who made a list of the 100 things he most wanted to do that he couldn't do when he was heavy or to differently when he would be thinner.  His list was 100 very specific things.  I had told myself I was going to do that same list before the surgery, but life and busy-ness just got in the way.  Maybe I will work on that list in the first couple of post-op weeks.  I think it would be good especially at times of "buyer's remorse" that I am sure I will experience or at moments when I get a pang of regret when one of my comfort foods starts calling my names.  EYES ON THE PRIZE!  Talk about empowering messages!!  :)

One that helps me, that is not my phrase, but I love it... nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

I can literally chase my granddaughter around and she gets winded before i do! Never thought i'd see that day! Its awesome!

I can bend over and tie my shoes, and NOT turn purple.

I can cross my legs without having to grab my pant leg to hoist my leg up over the other one... this one still amazes me at times, its so easy to cross my legs now!

I can wipe after I potty, without having to feel like stretch armstrong reaching to do it.
