Fears and anxieties
Well I am down to the wire. I have my last required PCP dr visit tuesday and we are submitting for final approval. I am so nervous about being approved. If I am approved I am hoping to have surgery mid december. I can not tell you what a whirlwind of emotions i have been experiencing for about 7 months. I use to be against WLS, then talked to my doctor and did some research and now am totally for it. I almost gave up on having it a couple months ago and then my 2nd wave of determination kicked in and I am almost there. I am so scared. Not of the surgery, but of the after math. A friend had this surgery a couple years back and her weight loss has been slow for her. That being said she did not and does not exercise at all. I have always exercised. I have tried very hard not to let my weight inhibit me. Of course that being said there are things out of my control. I am worried about my relationship with food. I am worried about excess skin. I am worried about breast feeding my daughter when this is over. I am just worried about everything..LOL
And you are soooo normal! You may like to look at the discussion below addressing this very thing, and see what folks had to share there. It is normal to be nervous and fearful. The unknown is what gets us everytime!
I have no clue about the breast feeding. Not sure your nutritional intake will be enough to cover her needs, also the anesthesia and pain meds would cross over into the milk I think. Definately address this with your doc so you can make some back up plans and begin the transition if one will be needed in this area.
I'm glad you didn't give up. Thats what the insurance companis hope for, unfortunately. They love thier profit margins and bank accounts.
As far as your relationship with food, there will have to be major changes. The surgery is only on our body not our heads...so you will definately have to work on that area. If you are feeling really worried about this area, you can always seek help in dealing with it.
Let us know how everything is progressing for you and keep us posted on your surgery date once you know!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
The mix of emotions is perfectly normal and to be expected. Take the other worries one at a time, like Patrece stated, check with MD as far as safety of breastmilk right around surgery time. And remember to use two forms of birth control afterward, give you body time to heal, adjust and modify.
Exercise is key to success. Love the attitude. Keep it up Mori.

You sound so normal. I am three months post op and I still worry about excess skin. But I've just come to realize that I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I can't do anything about it now, so just go with the flow. I still struggle with my relationship with food. I had the band so cheating is easier for me...I don't get dumping syndrome with processed sugars, boy do I wish I did. But I find that keeping a journal is really helpful. If I right everything down I'm less likely to cheat b/c I don't want "4 cups of Rocky Road ice cream" sitting there in my journal.
It sounds like you have a great outlook and t he fact that you are active will really help you. I did not exercise before surgery and I have a hard time getting it in, so you'll be a step ahead of t he game there.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey!
