Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
I had a lovely walk with the dogs yesterday afternoon. Crunching the fall leaves as we walked up and down the streets. Also enjoyed very restful sleep. Speaking of sleep, heading there in a few minutes. Quality pillow time.
Be good to yourselves today everyone. Do a good deed for someone else. Bring your thoughts about dealing with Halloween here. Let's see what we can do to behave ourselves with temptation.
Hugs, Kathy

Hope everyone has a great day!
Hugs,
I am physically at work, but my mind is on personal stuff and my attention span is very short!
My middle son, Cody (16), is struggling at school and we have been asked to meet with his Biology teacher and the Vice Principal. Cody is consistently falling asleep in this class. This has been going on since the beginning of the school year, and isn't limited to Biology class. Plus, Cody is failing almost all of his classes.
Getting Cody up in the morning is very difficult! There are times when his alarm is buzzing by his head while I am pounding on his door and calling his name and he still doesn't wake up! He misses the school bus several times a week, and he has stayed home far too many times because he says he doesn't feel well and we know he just wants to sleep.
A side effect of the antipsychotic med Cody takes (he is schizophrenic for those that don't know) is drowsiness, but he has been on the same med and at the same dosage for close to a year now. I am convinced that he has developed sleep apnea. He has gained over 100 lbs in the past year and I have heard him gurgling in his sleep and he often wakes up coughing. I made him an appointment with a sleep specialist for next week, and then we are scheduled to see his psychiatrist the following week. If we don't find a way soon for him to stay medicated, get the sleep he needs, and have the energy he needs, he will not pass 10th grade. We really don't want him to have to repeat the grade. We had him repeat 1st grade so he is already a year older than his classmates and will be 19 when he graduates. ::sigh::
I apologize for rambling on and on ... AGAIN! LOL! I'm feeling so overwhelmed with worry and it helps to let it out a bit! I know that we may need to make some changes and tough decisions, but it will all work out in the end. I have faith that God will find a way.
I hope that all of you have a good day and I'll "talk" to you later!
{{{ HUGS! }}}
Come vent/share as often as you need. I recall before I got my cpap machine, needing extra naps just to make it through. Next week can not come soon enough for your son.

Gaining 100 lbs in a year is quite a bit. Maybe he has other things going on as well. Has his tyroid been checked? Low thyroid function will cause weight gain and fatigue. Perhaps his psych meds are contributing to both... hard to tell. I hope you are able to get things figured out with him, so he can move on in school, and so he isn't feeling so horribly tired all the time. Thats tuff to deal with.
My heart is with you kim. Please let me know how all is going with you and him. Hope the sleep study goes well, and he gets some energy back soon.
Big hugs to you. You come here and vent anytime and as much as you need to. I may not know what to do to help, but can let you know I really care and am here for you.
