Motion Sickness?

I am experiencing a lot of motion sickness even in short rides since my surgery.  Is this common?  Does it go away?

This is the first I've heard of this.  But, I am not an expert.  Sounds like a call to the surgeon's office is in order for next week.  Maybe even call you PCP, it may have no relationship to the surgery and just be a coincidence.  Keep me updated on your progress with the motion sickness.

Are you getting enough fluids?  Being even slightly dehydrated affects the fluid balance in your head and ears.  Some balance things relate to trouble with ears.  Is the motion sickness bad enough that you actually throw up?

No, just naseous and not something I had before.  I will be checking with my surgeon- I've just learned asking here first is a good start :)

Thanks, Asking is a good place to start, hopefully someone will answer who may know more.  Thankfully you are not throwing up.  I pray that the motion sickness disappears ASAP.  Hugs, Kathy

I am afraid I have never heard of an association between wls and motion sickness either. Lets see if anyone else comes along that may have the same experience. Sorry I can't be of more help to you on this one.
How are you lately? How are things going for you with the wls?

The weight loss is amazing.  I've hit the 50  pound mark and I'm amazed at how different I feel!  I have more energy and I've been walking outside the last three days down to the corner and back.  It's not a monumental effort to move anymore :)  I am on phase 3, soft foods, and progressing nicely.  I just deal with a lot of nausea at night.  I still can't believe with only 1oz of food per meal I really am not hungry!

Wow, 50 pounds is fantastic.  I agree, the energy is so much better without the extra weight.  Hope the nausea resolves quickly.  Hugs, Kathy

I have Vertigo. And this sounds like you do too. I would still call surgeon tho. But I take 2 motion sickness pills a day, and still sometimes when I move a certain way I get dizzy and  it happens no matter if I am in a car or in bed. And sometimes when standing. I have dealt with this for over a year now, sometimes it goes away by itself, and then again you could have it forever.
There are some days when I cant even bend over without feeling like I am falling or flipping. Then it will not bother me again for months unless I skip my sickness pill.  I have been thinking about dying my hair and changinging my name to Dizzy Blonde!
Not that it is a laughing matter, but when you have put up with it almost every day for a year...
You get the picture.

Hi Linda, Good the pills work most of the time for you.  Go blond and see, I think you will still be Linda.  Take it easy when dizzy.  Hope yours gets better soon too.  Hugs, Kathy

I can only hope mine gets better, for I am one of the chosen few who will likely have it forever. I have had tests and noone can pinpoint any problems, and the ENT Dr. said my vertigo wont be going away and that a small pinhole in an eardrum could be the problem, and if this the  only problems I am having there is no use in furthering damage in my ear. So I am up for the ride of being dizzy forever, just dont be pokin anything in my ears.
