bad day still in progress

Tried to eat veggie sausage this a.m. when I got home from work this morning....took 40 minutes to go down and gave me the foamies. I just threw up the half ounce of chicken I ate for lunch. No wonder I'm eating crap! It's the only thing that will go down.

((((((((((Sukie))))))))))) Hugs, wish I had the right answer.  I am having a hard time with sausage and chicken too.  Was the chicken moist.  I have better luck with the dark meat than the white right now.  I see from others that post that the canned chicken sometimes goes best, especially with a little mayo or something to help it slide.  Dennis cooked polish sausage the other day, I tried a bite, just didn't taste as good as it did before surgery.  Also had a hard time with the casing that held the shape of the meat.

How about potato soup fortified with protein powder.  Try going back a step in texture of foods.  Contact your nutritionist for ideas specific to the band.

We need to get you on to positive thoughts.  Take some deep cleansing breaths.  Breathe in through our nose, out slowly through pursed lips and clear your mind.  I imagine all the tension escaping with the exhaled breath.

Check out the response I sent for the epiphany thread.  Littled got me on a roll.  I am here for you.  Hugs, Kathy

sukie, sorry you are having such a hard time. i had the foamies for about the first 2 or 3 months and then one day they disappeared.  i also had the runs for that length of time.  sausage is a no no, anything with a filler is bad according to my nut.  i have a hard time with chicken now, if it is white meat or is dry. i can eat dark meat but i don't real often. pork chops are  hard on me or was the last time i ate it.  chili and taco meat were something i depended on a lot at first. i got the best grade of chili i could made with free range turkey and chicken and tasted like homemade chile not that wolf brand crap.  i also ate eggs and bacon. i patted the bacon so there was as little grease as possible and just ate the meat part.  now i eat filet mignon, medium rare, yyuuuuummmmmmm.  lot's of protein and good and juicy.  i also eat lots of fish, moist.  i still have to be carefull about stuff that is overcooked and dry.  for breakfast i use 3 oz of weigh****cher's yogurt, 2 scoops of medical grade protein(unflavored), 1/2 banana and 3 small strawberries.  i put it in the freezer for about 40-50 minutes and it goes down really good and has 23 grams of protein.  hope this helps. sorry you are having such a hard time.   get away from the junk food. i know the foamies are a pain in the keister, but they will go away.  my doc recommends avacadoes because they are heart healthy. he also lets me eat tacos and enchiladas.   let me know what i can do to help. love, vick

Sukie... Have you tried checking out the board specifically for lap band patients? maybe you could get more ideas there? (But please don't leave us for them permanantly...lol). We love you. I am so sorry this has been so tough on you. How do you do with refried beans with a tad of shredded cheese melted on top, mixing in a bit of salsa to give it excellent flavor? Have you tried it? It is very tasty and a great source of protein. I have a feeling your band may be too tight. You need to keep calling your surgeons office and insist on getting in sooner.
I am going to ask around too and see what else I can come up with , if anything, for you. But do consider asking around at the lapband forum. They all have the same procedure as you, and it is very different from what I had. I feel so bad that I am unable to do more to help you. Know I love and care about you and am so sorry you are so miserable.

Thanks everyone...the junk food has really taken a toll even tho it goes down so well. I THINK I've gained three pounds :( But I made a deal with myself to try and go a whole week without refined starches or sugars and I intend to keep it. If I can go that long then I'll go another week, and another. Patrece, I think you are right, my band is too tight. Even if he took out 1/2 cc I think I'd feel more comfortable. I just got home from my night shift about an hour ago and tried to eat a scrambled egg. It's just sitting there giving me more foamies. I'm debating whether or not to make myself throw up so I can feel better and get some rest. I've written down all your ideas for soft foods and I'm going to the store later today or tomorrow morning. I'm going to go back a step in food and see if that helps. My nut. insists that my band sounds fine b/c I'm not having night time heart burn/coughing and I AM able to eat, just late at night. So it looks like NEXT Friday is the earliest I can get in. I'm not giving up tho. I spent way too much money on this operation to let it be a failure!

Thanks so much for your support, I can't tell you how much it means to me!

Hugs,

SUKIE! I have another thought too. They think all is well cuz you don't have the "night time" troubles, but the fact is you DO! Think about it.. and explain it to them. You work night shift...so your night time hours are different than others are. But on the schedule you work and are awake, it is absolutely your night time. They just don't get it do they? You are living a different schedule than they are, so according to your schedule night time is definately when you are having your troubles... YOUR night time.
Yes????

BTW I love your plan ... the deal you made with yourself. By the end of the 3rd week..you should be well on your way to good habits there, and cravings for rfined carbs / sugars will also be gone. Great job! Don't sweat the 3 lbs, some could be water weight, but once your band is adjusted for you, you should be back in business with your weight loss.
Hugs Girl!

OMG I never even thought of that Patrece. You are so right...my daytime (8pm - 9am) I"m fine and can usually eat but my night time is horrible (everyone else's daytime) Wow I'm so glad  you pointed that out to me, that might make them rethink the situtation.

Thanks so much!!

Interesting concept.  We night shift workers do live by a completely different schedule.  I take 2 small meals to work to eat, makes up for the times I am sleeping and not eating during the 'normal' world's daytime.
