Need to vent
0k it's been two weeks to the day since my last fill. I now have 6cc's of saline in my band, which doesn't really sound like a lot when you think it can hold 11 cc's. After my FIRST fill, which was about 6 weeks ago, I felt quite a bit of tightness for the first 5 days or so and then it felt better and I was able to keep regular foods down. Since my last fill I've had problems getting ANY sold foods down until about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. And b/c of that my whole eating schedule is screwed up and I'm having dinner at 11 at night. I've only thrown up once, but over all the food is getting stuck, hurting and then I get the foamies :( I called the Dr today and spoke with the nurse and she seems to think it's normal for the most part, and that the band is always tighter in the morning and mine just seems to be lasting longer than most. She asked me to hang in there for two weeks until I see him again and he can evaluate me better then.
I'm kinda bummed tho cuz I find myself eating crap cuz I know it will go down better. Chips and cookies, when chewed up, become mush and go down great. Fish and grains? Not so much.
Thanks for letting me vent, guys.
Hugs,

Glad you came to vent Sukie. We need to come and clean your cupboards to remove the junk foods. I care so much for you. Please consider things that are better for you. Even puddings enriched with extra protein, protein enriched cereals. Canned fruits and veggies. Remember to chew, chew, chew. I forget that part from time to time to and feel something stick a little. the sticking foods hurt until they pass. Right now, I am eating a fair amount of cottage cheese, yogurt, refried beans, turkey chili without beans and cheese. When I want a warm food, I choose chili or refried beans, add shredded cheese to either to up the protein. My breakfast favorite these days is protein enriched malt-o-meal. I use 1/2 cup of powdered milk to the water before I cook the cereal and put a dab of margarine in before eating. Make the consistency appropriate for easy swallowing. I don't add extra milk after cooking, makes too much to eat that way. I wish I could reach through the computer to give you this (((((Hug)))))) Hugs, Kathy

Hi Kathy,
I wish I could eat some of those things, but right now even they are getting stuck. My brother had me over to dinner tonight and had stuffed shells with sauce. The pasta part of the shells was getting stuck so I had just the cheese with sauce and did manage to get a little garlic toast down. It was the most I've eaten all week! Thanks for caring honey! I think I'm going to get some refried beans tomorrow, those went down pretty well even after the surgery so hopefully they will now too.
Hugs!

Ohhh Sukie! How miserable you must be feeling. Please just try to avoid the sugary foods if nothing else. I knew a gal that said all she could eat for several months after lap band was oatmeal, and even that had to be thin consistancy. Have you tried instant breakfast (no added sugar)? At least with that you would get better nutrition. I too care very very much about you, and I am so sorry for your suffering. Too bad they are wanting you to hold off for 2 weeks with this. Sounds like a very long 2 weeks. If it is too bothersome, call back and insist on being seen sooner! You are your own best advocate. Sometimes you just have to insist and put your foot down.
How is your weight loss doing? Is it going any better since your fill?
Have you tried yogurt? Oatmeal, cream of wheat?? Just trying to think of things you may be able to handle that are soft and easy on the system. I agree with Kathy to try chili with no beans and FF refried beans. At least you get some protein in.
Great big hugs to you. Keep us posted please on how you are doing.
