Hunger and no weight loss...
This week I have been so hungry this week and I weighed today and did not have a loss at all. I had worked out and exercised 2 times this week because I am just starting out. Since I finally got the clearance from my dr to do so because my GI tube is out.
Any thoughts on what this could be. I haven't done anything different with my diet except added a few items.

I have a couple of questions for you, that will assist me in knowing how to suggest things to you.
1. Where are you in your journey? New post op? or how far out?
2. Type of procedure you had?
Some things that could affect your scale readings: If you are losing fat, but gaining muscle, the scale won't reflect this. It is a good idea to measure monthly, as sometimes even when the scale doesn't move, we are still losing inches. Another thing is if you are not eating enough and not getting enough protein, this will decrease your weight loss. Knowing how far out you are and what you are eating, and in what amounts, may enable me to further assist you with advice. Another thought is that you may just be at a resting point in your weight loss. (plateau) I have always, since the beginning went through times of loss, then plateaus of 1 to 3 weeks. Many people go through this, and it is not unusual. Do not let this discourage you. Sometimes too, we need to shake things up a bit when we plateau. Change your exercise routine, or increase protein. Lastly, look back at the eating plan you were given by your doctor or nutritionist, and verify you are following it properly. It is easy to stary a bit and not even realize it.
Hang in there... all will be okay! If you give me the other info asked above, maybe we can figure out too, what may be going on.
Hugs!

I had RNY on Aug 11th, 2009. Then I had obstruction and other issues was admitted on 8/31/09...2nd surgery was 09/04/09... So I am almost 2 months out from original surgery. I lost about 15 lbs pre-op and have lost about 55 post-op. The reason for that is because I was on liquids for over 5 1/2 . I have only started eating food for the last couple of weeks. I know I have had a tremendous loss but I would have thought that I would continue losing for the first 6 months or so, especially since I do have activity in my life.
Am I wrong to think that? Do you think that I need to exercise more?
Thanks for your help.

Susan, you are doing great with the weight loss. The combination of both surgeries may have put your body into a shock state. That is tough. You may also be one of those who lose in small bursts with frequent plateaus. You will continue to lose, at your body's pace. You may try extra exercise, just to change the routine you body is getting used to. As long as you are feeling well and following your Md's plan, the loss will happen. I have noticed periods where I do not lose weight as well, they some just disappears overnight. Keeping you in my prayers. Hugs, Kathy

Just curious, but what kind of hunger are you referring to? Is it head hunger or more like an actual physical "growling" feeling in your stomach? I ask because I was feeling what I thought was actual hunger pangs (like a growling stomach) and my surgeon told me that it was not really possible for me to feel physical hunger right now, that it was more than likely too much acid in my pouch and/or my old stomach. He took me off Pepcid and put me on something stronger called Kapidex. The first few days I was on the Kapidex I still felt "hungry", but after that the Kapidex must have started working because now I don't feel that growling feeling anymore. Just thought I'd share, in case that's what's going on with you!
