Am I eating too much?

I am eating on average about 600-700 calories a day, and about 4-6oz per meal.  I am never really 'full' and feel I could eat more, but I stop myself, is this normal?  I recently saw that someone said that you're only supposed to eat 2oz at each mean until you're maintaining, and then you can eat 4oz.  Would I lose faster if I ate less with each meal?   I am 4 weeks out and have lost 20lbs since surgery.

I am 4 mos. out.  I just eat about 3 times a day.   you can eat 4-6 small meals aday.  you need to be doing no more that 4 oz at a time.  You don't want to make you pouch bigger on the start.  eat small amounts more often.  That is what i did.   i can only eat a few bites now.    Be sure to get you protein and liquids in.   my cal. intake is 450-600  most of the time.  keep up the good work.

At 4 weeks out I was eating 2 oz per meal. Thats what my surgeon recommended and I wasn't able to eat more, Or much more anyhow. An important thing to keep in mind here is that you do nOT want to eat until you feel full. Thats the old you. The new you and your new pouch, only needs to eat until satisfied, and that doesn't create a feeling of fullness. Just not feeling hungry nanymore. So if you can eat 2 to 3 oz and feel satisfied and not full, thats what you should try to aim for. At  3 months out you should be at 1/4 cup per meal. At 6 months 1/2 cup per meal and after a year 1 cup of food per meal. You should try not to exceed the one cup per meal after a year. Of course these are recommendations from my surgeons office, your surgeons advice may differ.
4 to 6 oz at this time seems a bit high to me. But i suggest following the suggestions your surgeon gave you. Or your nutritionist. You may put in a call and ask about this.
Did you have RNY?

Thanks Patrece, that was a huge help!  Yes, I had RNY.  I don't feel really hungry, except in the mornings.  I will try to stick to 2oz and see how it goes, hopefully that will work.

You are very welcome! Not sure why you don't experience discomfort when you overfill... but just measure and you should be fine. Also make sure you are getting in plenty of water and adequate protein. Both of those are vital as well, to losing , especially to maintain muscle while losing the fat.

I have been getting 65 - 80g of protein every day.  I either do a shake or liquid protein bullet every day to help with that.  I don't know why I don't feel discomfort.  Could I have stretched my pouch by eating 1/2 cup or 4oz for the past 3 weeks? I am still doing soft foods, my surgeon said I could move to regular food when I felt I was ready.  I have been measuring, and I've started the 2oz meals now .  I have been getting my 64oz of liquid and my vitamins.  Thanks for the help!

I'm sure your pouch is not stretched out this quickly. Maybe just a fluke thing that you are not feeling it. Ask your doc about it. But... do try to keep your intake monitored. Do check with your nutritionist and or doc to see what they want you to get in at each sitting, my guess is 2 oz at this point. thats pretty standard. Like I said I wasn't at 1/4 cup until 3 months out. But we all need to comply with what our surgeons say to do, but at times we do have to find what works for us, when we are farther out.
