What to eat after RNY

Hi, I know there has been a lot writen on this subject, but I have my RNY on 10/8, just 5-1/2 days away.  I'm so far not nervous, and  I've gotten my weight down enough to please the surgeon.  I know I'll be eating pureed foods for the first month (not a liquid only diet).

I bought a Magic Bullet so I can puree my food, so I'm not too worried about that.  Can you ever puree some tuna, and if so, what would you put in it to make it moister?

Is it consistent with most RNY patients that you don't have any/much hunger for a good while after surgery?  If so, for how long is that true?

Any tips on this subject or others related to after the RNY when I first come home, or any for that matter, are much appreciated.  You da best :)

I'll be waiting with bated breath for your answers.  Hugs, Katie

I am having surgery on tuesday, so I have not been there done that yet, but I can tell you what I bought for food so far.

I got a box of cream of wheat
My protien shakes
no sugar added apple sauce
chicken broth and beef broth
sugar free jello cups
sugar free pudding cups

I figure each of these can have protien powder mixed in and also the calcium powder that I have can be mixed in.

Hi,  I had my surgrey (RNY)  june 15,09.   I was on a clear liquid diet the first 7 days.  After day seven, went on reg. liquid diet till 3rd week.  Then went on puree food till week 7.  Then added soft foods.   I have never been hungry since surgrey.
You will do fine.  If i can be of help please let me know.   I have lost 52 pounds since surgrey.

Sorry, I posted incorrectly above this, so here it goes again...

Sounds like we had the same eating plan! It definitely works! My doctor called it the "healing" diet, to keep our new pouches safe and happy!

I had my surgery Aug. 10 and I am down 42 lbs. From a 22WP to 16/18WP. Sooooo happy!!!!!!!

Hi Katie.

It is true with me, my hunger went away, I remind myself to eat.  Remember to get your protein in, drink your liquids as able and walk to keep the blood moving.

Follow your surgeon's plan and things will go well.  It only takes a few bites and I am filled up.  Keep posting and we will be here for you Katie.  Hugs, Kathy
