SURGERY JITTERS
I found out 2 weeks ago I will need to have my surgery by the end of Oct. Friday all my paperwork was in and now I have to wait for an appointment with the surgeon and schedule surgery. It is somewhat stressful. I am mostly ready but there are fears about having surgery and life-long changes which will never change. I am already getting little anxiety knowing that at Thanksgiving I will not be able to eat for I will still be on a liquid diet. Do keep me in your prayers. Blessings, Donna
I do appreciate your prayers. I have decided to remove myself from my home and go to my mom's who won't be cooking. I will be spending time reflecting on being thankful at Thanksgiving. Attitude of gratitude will help. I rather remove the stressor and leave my home where Thanksgiving will take place.
Hi Donna, not sure if we have chatted yet. Keeping you in my prayers, if removing yourself from the temptation will help, then by all means, that is best. I had my surgery on 9/2 and went to a potluck gathering last saturday, no one really noticed what or how much I was eating, but I sure did enjoy the conversations with family members that I haven't seen for awhile.
Then after eating, a small group of us took a walk together, starting new routines is good, the family members that I walked with enjoyed the walk too. More reminiscing, just different scenery while we walked. I have found that since surgery, my appetite has gone to nearly nothing and I am more than satisfied with the small portions that I can eat.
Initially, you will only eat small portions, those will increase slightly after some time and you will be the healthier person you wanted to be.
Keeping you in my prayers. Hugs, Kathy

Donna,
Having the surgery jitters is normal. I had my surgery on August 26th and I had the jitters as well. I found this chat a big comfort before going in for surgery and after wards! Word of encouragement is to cut out the things you can't have after surgery now, makes it easier to leave them alone after surgery. And after you have the surgery, a new life will be there for you to start and live. Then you will look back at the pre surgery jitters and laugh and wonder why I had them.
Use this group to spill out how you feel, and chat and post often, it is a huge help!

Donna,
I sometimes joke that I need a brain transplant, but what everyone says is true... you are just not as hungry. Your body is healing and the progress you see helps you make better choices. Stick with us and the support you will receive from these lovely ladies will help make everything easier.
Best of luck and come back and chat! I can;t wait to hear about your progress!
Tania.

Hi, Donna. I'm having my RNY on 10/8 so we're in about the same place-anxious! I have spent the last few days deciding if this is the right thing for me, and overwhelmingly, this is the right choice for me. Like Vickie said, think it over and spend a lot of heartfelt time and prayer considering it. You're making the right choice to stay away from temptation. I went to a potluck and sort of blew it. My prayers are coming God's way for you. Make sure it is the right thing for you to do, and that you're not doing it for anyone else, or because anyone else wants you to. I'll be thinking of you. Katie
