Bariatric Buddy
Hi ... New Here
Hi! I'm Fawn Lori and I'm about to have my RNY on 10/5. I've just finished day 5 of the liquid diet and I'm getting anxious nervous excited scared hopeful... LOL, seriously, just a complete mixed bag of emotions. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. I'll be in the chat Monday night- it's my b'day and no cake, so I need to keep focused somehow :)
Welcome to our group Fawn! Its great to hve you here! I have to apologize, it seems many of our usual posters and greeters are not around much this week. You will meet some Monday in chat. And hopefully next week or even this weekend, things will pick up around here. Its been so quiet around here all day, and quieter than usual all week. Hopoing it will pick up!
Happy birthday early! How young wil you be? (don't have to answer if you rather not.)
You surgery is right around the corner! I can only imagine the feeling racing through you right now. I wasn't too scared or nervous, I had done tons of research, had total faith in my surgeon, and knew I would never want to live the rest of my life fighting the obesity and losing that battle, instead of the weight.
I have been very lucky too, no complications as of yet, and I am 14 months out. The only complication now is getting the weight to keep coming off.. it takes a lot more effort at this point. But I am down 100 lbs, and tend to lose in little spaced out spurts. As long as my weight keeps going the right way, I'm thrilled. Only 20 more to go to be at my goal.
Saving a spot on the losers bench for you! I look forward to getting to know you. This is a great grou pof people. Very caring, supportive, and sometimes downright silly.

I am backkkk... And having my saturday morning coffee. I spent three days at my sisters. Thats where I have been.
Running around gathering paperwork for my PCP to fax to surgeons office.
Having to do alot of this, and am getting tired of it, but I will reap in the rewards soon I hope.
Welcome Lori, lookin forward to meeting you in chat. Glad you joined our bunch of Merry Souls.
Patrece is right, some of us are just downright silly at times, but it helps the friendships grow to just be ourselves.
Hope you will post along with us, we dont care if it is something related to WLS or not, we are just a group of people becoming friends, and supporting when needed.
Dr. says have two buddy group laughs and message me in the morning. lmao

Thanks for the welcome :)
Honestly, the fear factor is "manageable". I tried to do this surgery in 04 but ran into one complication after another and it didn't happen. At that time, I was very active on OH and was an OH HTML Team volunteer. If you haven't been around for long, then you don't know that "back then" to have your profiles look purty took one of us volunteers doing some html magic and formatting it for you. I loved what I did and everyone's stories helped me so much. The site has changed a lot since then and it's taken a bit for me to get used to. I'm glad to see that there are still a lot of great people out there.
I've done my homework for several years and I'm glad that this surgery is not as "risky" as it was. Lap RNY was brand new back then and very few people fit the guidelines for it. Now, even at my size, my surgeon is going to try to do a lap first and only go to an open if he needs to. It's amazing how much things have changed!
I'm going back to sipping on my 2nd shake of the day and looking around.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
I had my surgery the Monday after my birthday, so I understand. Sorry I am a day late, but Happy Birthday! My BS was the best gift I ever received! I was a nervous wreck the day before and wrote a letter to my hubby and both sons, but everything went fantastically! In fact 6 weeks later and I camped all weekend, went on long hikes and canoes for 10 miles in one stretch with a slacking-paddler of a nine year old son, now I'm beat! But I was never tired and my now XL clothes were comfortable (MY 2xs were getting snug before! What a success! Your surgery will be a success and you will have a new life on the loser's bench. We'll be here for you when you return!
