Hello Peeps!
Since we have all been in the same chubby boat, I have a question about swelling in the legs. I have not had surgery yet, but I suffer from swelling in my legs. It is quite uncomfortable and runs in my family. My pcp won't listen to me and tries to tell me it's "just fat".
Well if I could fat that quick, why I am not skinny?????

I have not had surgery yet, but I go to a bariatric dr. tomorrow..

Thanks for listening to me vent.... and any suggestions would be appreciated.
I get 8 - 8oz of water in everyday, *try* to stay away from salt... but  once again....

same old, same old....

I had BADDDDD pitting edema in my lower legs before surgery. I even woke up with it. If you press on your chin next to the bone, do you get an indention that takes a while to go away? if so that is pitting edema, caused by fluid retention. Mine went away after I lost a lot of weight. But could never get rid of it prior. Water pills can help some. Try to elevate your legs on and off throughout the day, that helps a bit too.

That is exactly what I am experiencing. over the counter water pills do not help.
I am going to ask the dr. tomorrow if he can give me a script since my PCP won't help me.

Good luck with it. I know it is painful. Just keep in mind after you lose some significant weight, you'll most likely get alot of relief from that. Let us know what your doc says / does!

Well.. I went to the dr. and was medically cleared for surgery!!  YIPEEE!!
Now I just have to wait out my insurance company's waiting period.  I am hoping to having surgery in March or April.

About my legs, it was pretty much what I thought. Not much can be done until I lose weight.
The same with the pain in my knees. Although the dr told me to take 2 a****e in the AM and that has helped a lot!

I was taking ty****l and it was not helping, but I have felt much better over the weekend.
Feeling so much better in fact that I am going to the local rec center to get my membership and begin to workout.

I can't wait!

Thanks for all the support!
