Okay, I had surgery on August 10th. I went for a follow up. I have lost 31 pounds. At my two week check-up I had lost 19, so in the last month I have only lost 12 pounds. Errr...

The doctor was happy, but I expected more. What do you think? Any advice?

Before 260, now 229.

Simple answer, YES.

Morning Tania, I was reading another post somewhere a few days ago. The poster said something like this.   If you lose 12 pounds every month, at the end of a year you would be down another 144 pounds, you do not have 144 pounds to lose. Even if you lose 12 pounds a month for 6 months, you have lost 72 pounds.   You are losing great, just keep following orders, get your protein and water in, exercise a little and the results will be there.

Now when I complain about something in the future, and I'm sure I will have a thing or two come up, please be my voice of reason.  Welcome to the Loser's bench.  Hugs, Kathy

You are so right! A year from now those 12 pounds equal my goal plus a few! You are a doll, thanks! You are going to blow us out of the water Kathy!

You are mostest welcome Tania.  I know that was lousy grammer, but what the hey,  I meant it.  This isn't a competition, just each of us just trying to be and do our best.  Supporting each other is part of the game that I enjoy.  Hang in there Tania.  Hugs, Kathy

Oh no, this is definitely not a competition.  I am so proud of you! I love hearing from you and you always make me laugh! My "buddies" are a better support sytem (and my crazy family) than I could ever have imagined.

Where else could I share my loss of half an elephant penis? Or have someone ask about my sex life (It's great, thanks Vick)?!? I LOVE stopping in each day for a chat.

Tania + WLS = Tania - 1/2 an elephant penis

Hello there!  My surgeon is also Dr. Hendrick in Wyandotte.

I am still pre-op but what Kathy said makes a lot of sense to me.  I think it just sometimes takes so long to get to the actual surgery between appointments and tests and whatever else, that we expect a miracle.

Hang in there.  31 pounds in about 6 weeks is pretty darn good.

I agree and I am happy, I had 35 pounds in my head so I was a little disappointed! I am glad to meet another patient! How cool, he is great and I have had NO problems. Maybe we will meet one day.

Thanks for the encouragement.

tania, good to see you posting about your feelings.  i know it helps me.  you know u don't want to lose too fast, so 12 pounds a month is really good.   i had times when i didn't lose anything for 2 weeks and then i would lose 5 pounds in a week.  it is kind of like a rollar coaster.  just hang in there. i know when i started doing some good exercise i started losing better (after i had started stalling).  you are looking beautiful, lady.  vick

I had surgery July 15 and I started at 262.  I am now down to 225.  That's 37 lbs.  You are ahead of the game!  :o)  I get discouraged a lot too but, I have to remind myself that is 37 lbs that is GONE... and if I continue to follow the plan and do what I am supposed to do then I will be just fine.  In time.  This isn't an overnight fix.  Even though we want it to be.  I totally sympathize with you on this!

Here's to us losing a day at a time... tomorrow will take care of itself.  :o)
