Record breaking Wednesday

Kathy B.
on 9/15/09 9:28 pm - Virginia, MN

Good morning everyone,

Seems that another Wednesday is upon us.  Let's do everything in our power to make sure that it is a record breaker.  Let's do something nice for others, and at least one nice thing for ourselves in the process.  Are you going to put more effort into getting in an extra five minutes of exercise?  Telling yourself that "I did a great job taking care of me today"?  Hug someone who needs a friend?  Send up prayers and well wishes for your peers?  The possibilities are endless, share what you did to brighten the day for someone.

I am sending prayers and thoughts of smooth sailing through surgery for Sue, Glennis and Flo.  Wishing Kim and foxymama a speedy recovery from their recent surgeries.  Looking forward to greeting more later this week as they approach their surgeries.

I have my two week follow up appointment later this morning, looking forward to the advance in my diet, any good ideas for pureed things, that's where I am headed next.  Thinking something warm, easy and filled with protein.  Any help with this out there?  My diet the last 5 weeks has been a no brainer, mix the shakes and drink them.  Next...........?

As long as I am awake early, look out gym here I come.    Have the best day possible.  Hugs, Kathy

boy u sure are an early bird this morning kathy.  u have the right idea about helping another.  it is the stuff that makes living worthwhile.  today i hope i can help somebody on this board and somebody out in the real world.

i get to get two of my drains out today. yipppppeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!  then i will just have one left and hopefully if can come out in a couple of weeks.  i am going to try and get the doctor to do a culture just to make sure everything is ok on the inside.

now i hope ur visit is a truely worthwhile endevour.  you know u can make some malt o meal or cream of wheat and put in some whey isolate protein in it to boost up the protein.  you just have to be careful and not put the protein powder in when the other stuff is too hot.  i use dry nonfat milk in my water when i make them, makes them taste better, but you need to be careful for lactose intolerance.  you can get syntrex whey isolate medical grade powder at A1supplements.com  but it takes a few days to come in.  they are cheaper than just about everybody.

ladies who have had surgery and those getting it today.    way to go, we are all scooting over on the bench.  remember we are here for you.  soon you will be losing weight all  over the place.  good luck to you.

patrece, are u home yet?  we miss you. hugs, vick.

Hi Vick, I was up early, part of my not sleeping much at night.  I wanted to make sure I got a workout in at the gym.  Started off up there at about 8 am.  I needed to be on the road to Duluth shortly after 9 to make my appointments.  There is road construction and other things that delay the travel yet.  You do know that MN has 2 seasons... road construction and winter. lol

I walked the treadmill for 45 minutes, started adding some inclines and burned 475 cal.  That is nearly half of what my daily intake of calories has been on the shakes.  Using the health tracker, my 5 shakes total about 1080 cal.  I don't have any choice but to lose if I keep up the exercise.  Yeeeehawwww.

I am officially done with the carnation shakes, unless I crave one, which I won't be for a while.  I mixed up 3 today, had one for breakfast and put two on ice in my cooler bag to have while I traveled and shopped.  I don't want to do any fast food and have a problem today.   I plan to shop for new pants, and a few other things.  It is a little over an hour drive each way for my appointment.  I did find a couple pair of stretch jeans that looked ok.  Didn't;t like the way any other pants looked on my today.  Came home with the jeans and 1 blouse.  I also bought some cottage cheese, nonfat dry milk, and some soups that I can puree.  The whole trip wore me out, I arrived home at about 4 pm.  Dennis unpacked the things I got from the car while I crashed on the bed for a two hour nap.  Feeling much better after the nap.  I 'cooked' tonight.  No ambition for a big project.  I am having pureed chicken noodle soup with unjury added.  Tastes better than I expected, and it is warm.  I plan to try hot cereal in the morning.  I have to actually spend time coming up with meal ideas now.  Enough of the nobrainer shakes for the time being.  I am so bummmmmmed about the shake thing. NOT.... lol

Here checking out what everyone else has been up to today.  Haven't heard anything from Patrece yet.  Miss her, hoping that she did get some fun in during the trip.  More another time.  Hugs, Kathy

Good morning Kathy, hope you have been doing well since your surgery, I hope to be there soon, I am getting tired waiting lol. I want everyone to scoot over and make a place for Meee.
I hope to give someone encouragement and support today too, and will be off to scan my friends list for recent and upcoming surgeries here after this post.
Have a blessed day and hope you find the things you like for your pureed diet stage. Keep us posted with some good things to try when you find them.

Welcome back Linda.  Missed your chatter around here.  Hope you got everything accomplished that you needed while you were away.  I am more than ready to scoot my butt over to make room.  How are you doing with the smokes?  Better, I pray.  Looking forward to sharing with you.  Hugs, Kathy

Kathy - you continue to amaze and inspire!  You are doing great.  A friend and my brother that had RNY told me egg salad is good - you need one of those Magic bullet grinders, I guess.  Also a little mashed potatoes with fat free gravy and some turkey/chicken.  Yogurt of course.  I'm sure there are many others!

I started the fasting liquid diet today - which is for two weeks pre-op with my doctor.  So far, so good!   Have a great day.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Hmmmmm, egg salad does sound good.  I have one of the chopper/mixer stick things.  I will boil some eggs up one of these days.  Dennis will like some, not pureed for him of course.  I bought a can of turkey chili today, think I will puree that for something different.  The puree diet is only for 1 week, then off to soft foods.  One week, piece of cake after 5 weeks of the shake diet.  Finished my pureed soup, good, just didn't stay warm till I was finished.  I think I willl have to find one of those coffee warming disks to set my bowl/plate on to keep things warm while I eat slowly.  Dietician talked about blending tuna, another possibility.  Just wanted something warm for my first 'meal' after surgery.

Enjoy the shakes, it sounds worse than it really is.  Take care.  Hugs, Kathy
