Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Thank you for your warm wishes and prayers, Patrece!
I am to arrive at the hospital at 5:30AM on Monday. The vena cava filter is being put in at 7:30AM and then my surgery is scheduled for 10:00AM. I am on a liquid diet today and tomorrow, then nothing bu****er to wash down my daily meds on Monday morning.
I am really anxious. I know that I will come through the surgery fine, but I'm SO worried about the pain I will be in afterward - and about how long it will likely last. I am doubting my decision to have the open RNY now instead of working to get a BMI below 50 to have it done laprascopically later. But I'm not backing out! The bottom line is that continuing to live my life in this body is much more scary than everything surrounding the surgery.
I want to thank all of my Bariatric Buddies for your support. I feel blessed to have found all of you and to be able to call you friends. TTFN!

Kim, I have all the confidence in the world that you are going to fly through both procedures with flying colors. Use your pain medications, do you deep breathing and coughing exercises. A pillow to splint the incision helps, I still use a pillow to splint if I can get ahold of one, otherwise I use my hand to splint my largest incision. You will taper off the strong pain medications as you heal up, there is no set time table. If what they have you on is not enough, just speak up, there are other options. Get up and start walking little ways as soon as you are able after surgery.
I will have you in my thoughts and prayers both tonight and for the days to come. Can't wait to hear about your experience when you are up to it after surgery. Holding a space for you on the Loser's bench,.
Smooth sailing for Kim on Monday. Hugs, Kathy

You are in my thoughts and prayers Kim. You are going to be just fine. The pain is temporary, and nothing like labor..lol. (At least if you take your pain meds) Once I left the hospital I used only one prescription pain pill, all tylenol after that. You'll be suprised how quickly you will start improving.
Hugs and love!!! See you on the bench!
