spoke with my doctor today
i called and told him the figures on the amt of fluid i am getting from each drain (i have 3 left). they are going down, slowly but surely. i am not running a fever, i have been taking my temperature since patrece suggested it. i am to call the doc again on thursday, unless something goes wrong or i get a total of 10 cc or less in one of my drains. everybody keep your fingers crossed, i sure don't want to have to be opened back up. i am really encouraged that drain #2 is starting to cut back, that is the one that was flowing 90 to nothing. well enough about me. how are all you ladies doing? not much posting on the board today. is everybody busy or what? take care and have a good one. vick

How are you Lookin Vick, can't wait for a new pic to see the work in progress. Keep working on those drains. They will come out one day and, all better.......
I bored today, awake more. The MD office called me for routine telehone follow up. Gave me the idea of using a bit of sugarfree jam to mask the bad taste of the meds, or I may just cut them into tiny pieces and take them. The jam helped a lot, plus kept the bits all together, got the yuck down in 1 swallow. Think it is the metformin that tastes so rotten crushed. I feel so sorry for the folks that can't swallow pills and need to crush all the time. Ughhhhh. They told me I am ahead of the curve in getting my protein drinks in. Always have been just a bit of an overacheiver. Who me? :)
How is your finger doing, splint on or off these days?
I sat outside and watched the dogs play for awhile. They race and spin so quickly. They were enjoying the breeze with me. Hugs, Kathy

went to the doc today, kathy, about the finger. splint stays on for 2 more weeks. i do take it off 3 times a day now and soak and exercise in real warm water to limber it up. i love watching my babies play too. my little yorkie, hombre, thinks he is huge. he weighs 5 pounds and will take on a 120 pound dog. he is so funny and has such a kind heart. mister, is our true mongrel. if there was such a breed he would be it. got him walking down the middle of a buzy street. flea bitten, scabs all over from fleas. bladder infection, sheath infection. he was truely abused also. we have had him over 2 years and it is still a work in progress. the people who owned him called and wanted him back because we also take strays to the vet and then put an ad in the paper. after we found out what all was wrong with him and how abused he was, my dh told a white one and said it was a different dog. we could not let that dog go back to that abuse. my rat terrier is our alpha female. she is a barker and a go getter. her name is pattie lou. our cat, towie was left out in the rain and found it's way to my parents porch. it was only 5 or 6 weeks old and now he is ours. after the people found out how much money we had already spent on him, they didn't want him back. they said they wanted an outdoor cat anyway. tough for them. we let him out now, but it is a fenced yard and he stays in the yard. we keep full shots on all our babies and it sure gets expensive sometimes. well enough about my family. tell me more about yours. vick

I still have 7 # of water weight from surgery that just hangs around. Now that I am getting more fluids in, I notice that I am voiding more as well, hope the fluid shift starts like yesterday. My abdomen still seems bloated. My capri pants that just fit pre-op, were just a little too snug after a few hours today. I feel like I need a binder for my abdomen. Just enough weight loss before surgery that my tummy jiggles when I walk, and that irritates one of the larger incisions.
My abdomen is like a topographical map. Fading ink marks from surgery, slightly raised, super glued incisions x4 and a valley that has a larger incision that is held together with steri strips, and just below my bra band the little puncture hole where the OnQ pump used to be. So 6 healing holes. None of them draining, none opening up. Guess I really don't have much to complain about, but I will...... I am not taking photos of this mess. Your imagination will have to do. I can't even get my husband to look at the incisions. Of course he wouldn'****ch me inject insulin when I still did that.
At my highest weight I was on 80 units of Lantus bid, cut it way back with the pre-op dieting to about 24 units bid, by the time I was getting used to the carnation diet, I was on 12-13 units bid. None now. Cut my diabetes pills by a lot too. Does that cover it Vick?
