Good morning to everyone. I hope all is well with you all. I miss hearing from a lot of you. I hope you will be returning soon. These last 2 weeks have been very busy for many.
Kathy called me this morning from the hospital. She is doing pretty well. Sore and tired. She says to pass on a hello to all the buddies from her!

Congratulations and welcome back! Soooo glad to hear you are doing well!  Welcome to the losers bench! I had that air bubble too. It is not pleasant, but the short walks will help with that.

Guess what, I found a computer here on the surgery floor,  As Vick says

I'm Baaaaaack

didn't think you could get rid of me that easy did you.  I have bee walking the halls and napping and sipping on clear liquids.  My last meal yesterday was as popsicle, firs meal today was a popsicle.

So far no nausea, pain that is controlled.  I had a PCA pump last night, switched to liquid medicine to drink this morning. I also have this pain pump called onQ that delivers local pain medicine right to the area around my stomach.  Seems to be working to keep the pain tolerable.   I was scheduled to 2:30pm  surgery yesterday and still in the pre-op holding area at 4pm.  Not much to recall between 4 and midnight.  I had my first walk at midnight, then 4 am and 6:30am.  By noon I was moved from the 24hour unit by surgery to the surgical floor.  I have been out and about in the halls 3 times since noon.  Catheter was removed at midnight.  So far, so good, I do believe that I will be discharged tomorrow, Dennis is working day shift, won't be able to go until he is home and drives the hour to Duluth.

Right now, feeling the urge to go take a nap, no sense fighting the urge.  Later buddies.

Dragonlover and Kathy - Glad to hear surgery went well.  I'm still playing the waiting game.  I'm getting very impatient.

I am up to 30 minutes on the exercise bike in the morning, then doing 15 minutes in the evening.  My knees are "fresh" in the a.m., so that's why I can go longer....the evenings, not so much, but forcing myself to do 15".

I've been trying to watch what I eat.  Didn't do so well today.  Started out ok with yogurt, then protein drink mid-morning.  That didn't seem to get rid of the hunger, so BIG MISTAKE, I went to get groceries at noon and bought a ham and cheese sandwhich and potato salad.  Then, when I got home from work, my DH was grilled polish sausages.....one of my favorites.  Of course, I didn't resist.

I'll do better tomorrow.   We will be camping this weekend, so I'm going prepared.  I didn't buy chips/dip (which is a HUGE weakness for me).  I bought cabbage.  I'm going to make low fat cole slaw.  I'm making chili using ground turkey.  I'm not telling anyone and I'm betting they won't know the difference.  Grilled chix, peppers, fresh tomatoes.  I should do ok.....now if other people would just not bake pies and take camping, or make cobbler in the cast iron pot.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Kathy...be sure to get plenty of rest and liquids. You are doing wonderful! So glad to see you here posting all ready!!!

MeMaw, hang in there ... it isn't easy. But don't beat yourself up over it. Acknowledge your weakness, then plan for a way to beat it next time. Every challenge it an opportunity to grow! Sounds like a good plan for the camping trip.

I have a personal rule of thumb, which is not necessarily endorsed by my surgeon, but it works for me. If there is something I just cannot live without having some of, I allow myself ONE bite, but only after I eat my protein and veggies. It is rare there is something I can't resist, but this is my rule for when there is. Of couse I am post-op. And did not do this early post-op cuz the risk of dumping was enough to keep me clean.
Hang in there! You can do this! Hope you get the go ahead very soon!
Hugs!
