how much should you do during the first week. I have just done a little walking but nothing to strenuous.

Just what you are doing. Take several very short and easy strolls each day. Do not exert yourself right now at all. You have lots of healing to do yet. The short strolls several times a day helps move the air out from surgery, and also helps prevent blood clots. Then it also helps begin your new habit of daily activity.
I hope you are doing well and please feel free to ask anything you need to.
Hugs!

Tomorrow I am going to look into changing my curves membership to the one closer to me. That way I will be much more likely to get there! I plan to make it a point to get there 3 days a week. Thats the minimum they recommend you go to get results.

I am missing my outdoor walking. But.. I am such a wuss anymore when it comes to the cold. Ever since bariatric surgery, I seem to get chilled quite easily and it takes me forever to shake it off. So.. I am very reluctant to go outside to walk these days, as it is cold here now. Woke up to snow on the ground this AM. Most of it is melted now, but it is 22 degrees out there right now. Going to have to plan alternative exercise for the cold days. Probably my Wii Active. Have to get that hooked up now that I am moved!

What have you all been doing to stay active??

I haven't yet had my surgery, but I've taken up belly dancing to help loose some weight beforehand.  My doctor wants me to lose 10% of my current weight (260 then) and I knew I needed something I could do indoors (I live in WA, so basically it's raining and cold now till next spring) and I wouldn't get bored with.  I've found the FEELING of it so COOL!  It makes you feel sexy and exciting and the DVDs, television show (called Shimmy on Fit TV), and possibility of joining a group at a later date (when I am more comfortable with my body) all make the shaking and waving more fun.  One other thing that makes it great is buying gorgeous jingly scarves to wear around your waist while you do it.  No matter how uncoordinated I may be, I always sound like a belly dancing babe-o-rama!

LOL... How kewl is that! Thats awesome that you found something that will give you a great workout and make you feel sexy! We need to feel sexy for sure, after all we are women! lol.

I don't think I would ever in a million years have the flexibility or range of motion to do belly dancing, but sounds like a lot of fun!
Keep up the good work!
Good luck knocking off the 26 lbs!
Hugs!

Belly Dancing is actually very accessable.  If you can bend your knees and move your hips back and forth, you can do it!  The music is awesome too, and little kids love doing it.

Thanks for the hugs and luck!

Just sitting here this morning reflecting on my exercise schedule for this past week and the weeks to come hopefully, weather permitting.  lol.   It is so hard for me to believe that I am actually able to now exersise to the extent that I am now, since I was so to say out of commission in that department for so many years.   I will be getting ready to go for my 6th 90minute workout at curves this week here in a few minutes and since it is a gorgeous day here in sw ohio I will definitely get another 45 minute walk in this afternoon.   I can remember not so many months ago and for years I had all I could do just to walk around in my home with a cane and now I am out and about, of course, I do carry my cane with me just in case the need is there to use it.    Kind of like a security blanket for me.   I have used it for almost ten years due to my ortho issues.

Wow Anna! Your wls experience is so very inspiring to me, and I am sure many others as well. What a pwerful and postive difference wls has made in your life. I am both impressed and inspired. I also must say I truly admire the effort you are putting into making the most of your wls journey. Keep sharing. Stories like yours can be so very encouraging for others who are now where you were before your surgery.
Big hugs!

Well the alarm was going off in my head again this morning that it was time to get up and go to curves,  lol.   Sooooooooooooooooo, I am up and just had some cottage cheese and peaches and will soon be ready to go to curves for the first of four workouts this week.   I actually made it six days last week, not quite sure how i pulled that one off but it was done.   Going to be nice for another day or two here so we will get our 45 minute walk in this afternoon also.   I know only too well that the nice weather is going to come to a halt here really soon so I best be taking advantage of the walking weather now.   Not quite sure what I will do for the walking part of the exercise routine when it does get impassible for me to go out walking on streets and sidewalks.   Going to be a busy week with the holiday.
