Hi Veronica! Nice to hear from you! You are doing such a nice thing for your health and your body with this exercise. It is very possible that as you lose fat, you are gaining muscle. But, you should be losing some weight still, this early out from surgery. How long has your weight stayed the same? I used to go through times where I would go 2 maybe even 3 weeks on a plateau. then start losing again. Maybe this is the case with you? It happens to many of us.

That said, there are a few more things to consider. With the increased exercise, your protein needs are also increased. Make sure you are getting in at least 80 grams of protein daily, and especially get some in directly after a workout. Not only will this help your muscle tissue build, but will help accelerate the fat burning rate and duration post workout.  Next, the only way the fat we lose leaves our system is through urination. Be sure you are getting in plenty of water, at least 64 oz. If you are real active they say to get in half your body weight in ounces. For example if you weigh 200, get in 100 oz daily. Mix it up a bit if you need to like with water, Sugar free iced tea, crystal light if you drink that, etc.  Then the next thing to do is to carefully review your docs eating plan, and be sure you are following it properly. You don't want to get in too much, but also, you do not want to get in too little.

Do measure once a week when the scale is not showing a change, and see what the tape measure has to say. But don't give up! You will begin to lose again. Sometimes our bodies need time to catch up with all the changes going on. I really think if you get in an extra protein shake right after exercise, it will benefit you tremendously.

One other thing as well... the first 3 months after surgery is the fastest loss time. After that it slows to about half the loss we saw the first 3 months. I lost about half of my lost weight the first 3 months. I am down 102 now and a bit over a year out. It is different for us all, but it definately slows after the first 3 months. Just how it goes, according to my surgeon.
Keep us posted on how it is going, and I hope to continue to see you around in our group!
Hugs!
Patrece

Well, I have no clue how many steps I got in today, but I did work on our rental unit for 6 hours. Patching hole from nails, taking  face plates off of outlets and switches, and taping off in preparation for paininting. Still have a lot of taping off to do, and lots of face plates to remove, but got all the little holes fille in on both sides of the duplex.  Each side has nine rooms plus a couple of hallways and a stair well. What a work out!
Now keep in mind, I was NOT supposed to have to do this stuff, but the guy we had lined up to do it, backed out last minute, actually 1 1/2 days after he was supposed to start but never did. I wasn't the happiest of cAMPERS. i REALLY WANT THIS PROJECT DONE SO WE CAN GET IT RENTED OUT. Will look into other help tomorrow I guess.
Meanwhile, my neck and back are aching, but I think I am gonna live! LOl.

If I were you, I would find that local hottub outside your back door and soak for a round of bubbles for the sore muscles.  I would join you of course.  Probably Gretta too.  I saw the place, that is a lot of rooms, hope you find a painter soon.  Won't take much beyond carpet and paint and a couple other projects and rent em out.  Get license numbers for you contractors.

I got in 10140 steps today.  Oscar and Gretta were more than eager for a dog walk this afternoon, the temp was 39, they were so excited, I don't even think they noticed.  No shivering noted and no playing in the puddles in the parking lot.  I found my fall jacket, at least I thought it was mine, till part way through the walk.  I looked down at my sleeve and recognized a couple of tears that were in my hubbies jacket last spring.  We had matching jackets.  I was in a 3x last fall, his 1x fit great.  I will fix the holes and get it back to him.  I found the matching jacket, the zipper was broken, gosh, no reason to go to the trouble to fix it now, I won't wear it.  I have to snoop in the upstairs closet, I believe there are a couple of jackets that were too tight last year, bet this year they will fit.  Got out the light gloves and enjoyed the walk this afternoon.  Tomorrow, going to get ear protection too.  It was in the box with the gloves, just didn't grab it today.  Duhhhhhh.......

Put 30 minutes in on the treadmill tonight and started some arm curls.  Working up to more weight lifting activities.

Great job Kathy! Break out those jackets from last year, that were too tight, and are likely too roomy this year!

Yep gotta get help for sure. Those duplexes have 1600 square feet per side.. and lots and lots of walls. Candice asked me if she could "work for me" Told her we'd give it a try but I expect her to treat it like a job...not like she is helping her Mom. Told her she MUST do an excellent job on whatever she helps with and she is not allowed to get pissy if I tell her she is not doing something right or good enough, or I would fire her! lol.

Got in my outside walking without the dogs today, too cold for them.  I walked around the car lot while the oil was changed in my car.  got in 2.5 miles outside.  Total of 11389 steps, 76 minutes of exercising with a total of 5 miles logged on my pedometer. The dogs made 3 circles around the outside of the house for their exercise today, and they were fast circles.

Greeeeaaaaaaaattttt Job Kathy!  Tell the doggies they have a lot of nerve not walking with you! LOL
I painted and painted and painted and feel like I rode a horse all day. My butt and legs and back hurt so bad...and my inner thighs, which is a good thing! I worked from 11 am until 4:40 PM, leaving just in time to get back here to wash up and get into the chat room.
I shall recover! lol.

Tomorrow I will make up for it. I am getting up early, going to work on painting more, then at 2:30 have to watch my grandson (1 yr old****il 6:30 pm. Then would like to go back to work on the painting some more, but wonder how up to it I will be after the first session and then babysitting. We shall see and will report in then!

Good news, Dennis agreed to go for a walk with me this afternoon.  We walked the dogs for 50 minutes and 2.5 miles.  This morning, got in 40 minutes and 2.5 miles on the treadmill.  Step total so far 11321, getting ready for supper and then a nap before going to work tonight.  So that's most of the steps I will get for today.

Your steps at work count too! Make sure you wear your pedometer! Hope work goes well for you tonight. Please take it easy on yourself! Glad Dennis walked with you. Its always nicer to walk with someone else.
I painted from 8 am until 12:30 pm. Then took an hour nap. Had my grandson from 2:15 until 6:35, ate dinner and went back and painted from 7:15 until 8:40 pm. That was my activity for today, and plenty of it!
Candice nd I plan to get over there early tomorrow and get started. That will likely be my exercise for the day again.
Hugs! Love and miss ya!
