Exercise and fitness discussion

Last evening, it was getting late, and I had not gotten in my exercise for the day. So I took a nice walk in the dark, just me and my trusty flashlight. It was actually quite nice. Quiet, cool and helped me unwind a bit for the night. I walked about 1.5 miles at a very brisk walk. Would like to start getting in a minimum of 2 miles per day. I just have to start making more time for my exercise and activity.

How's everyone else doing in the activity department?

Only made a few blocks yesterday, we'll see about later on today.  Good for you.  Last time I went at dusk, forgot the flashlight.  Ground is uneven and the pups do not tell me where the uneven spots are.

I didn't get much done with my other project for the day.  Did go to the gym with a friend from wls support group.  A leisurely 40 minutes on the treadmill and I did feel a little better, never would have been there that long is I was in this am's pain.

Sooooooooo glad the pain is decreasing for you! Hope it keeps getting better until it is no more! I got in 2 nice naps today. That was my activity for the day. So exhausted for some reason. Was going to force myslef to go for a walk, but being really cooooool and sprinkling, it was too easy to take the nap intead. Wonder if I am coming down with something...

I am back on track with the exercise after my little bout of backed  up internal plumbing.  Walked 14 blocks with the pooches this am, 2 miles between rain clouds this afternoon. and just got home, 60 minutes on the treadmill, slowed down to 2.8 mph, and burned 550 calories.  It will take more effort to burn this many calories as I lose weight, the machines figure the burn based on your weight.

How is everyone else doing.  Even walking up and down the hall in the house counts.  Come on buddies, fess up, gotta be some exercise hanging around out there.

I got in a small walk today, along with playing with my weeble girl. her and I played in the yard out front. We were running and chasing each other. She was as out of breath as i was when I finally had to take a break! She's so fun to play with. Doesn't even seem like exercise, but I did a lot of actual running... amazing! LOL. I din't even drop over dead or anything!

I am getting a better pedometer, so I can really track what I am getting in. I walk up and down the stairs here about 20 times a day. My computer is upstairs, bedroom and kitchen and front bell ringing is downstairs. lots of bell ringing today... I had to look to see if there was an "open house" sign in the front yard! LOL.

Good job Kathy on the exercise and the taking care of the sluggish bowels. Amazing how much that can hurt! Keep on keeping on!
Hugs!

Hey there Patrece, I called around and found a neighbor willing to put up the open youse sign, and take it down everytime you looked for it.  lol  took me weeks to get the right neighbor.  hahahaha.

Sounds like the good kind of exercise, chasing your weeble around.

I got done with mine a little earlier tonight.  60 minutes on the treadmill after lunch and the 2.5 mile dog walk just now.  neighbor's dog wal loose when we walked down the alley, part black lab and part pit bull.  Got my pups in the house and opened the neighbor's back door to let their loose dog in, it had broken the steel coated teather (again),  one of the other neighbor's stipped out to report that their dog had been attacked during the episode of loose big dog.  Alerted the neighbors in charge of the loose dog to make ammends and stepped out of the mess. Off for a shower, fix something to eat and put me feet up in the recliner.

Holy Cow thts one strong dog to break a steal coated teather! Does not sound like a dog that belongs in a residential area.  I hope the other neighbors dog wasn't injured too badly. I love dogs, but if I had one that was aggressive like that, I'd have to be more responsible about things.
Glad you and your pups were safe and sound. We had an experience in an old neighborhood with a pit bull attacking the dog of a lady walking with her dog. The pit bull was running loose, must have escaped his yard. The poor lady was screaming her head off. woke us from a dead sleep at 6 AM. Paul went out there. He tried everything to get that pit off of the ladies dog, even bent a steel pipe over its head, and still it wouldn't stop. Finally I was MAD.. walked up to the dog. Yelled at him in a very deep loud stern voice to go home, and I'll be darned ... he listened! Took a couple of yells to get his attention but I finally did. The ladies poor dog had part of an ear mising, several pierces in its throat and neck, but survived. Took a vet, stitches and other care, but he pulled through it. I have no use for vicious dogs, even if they are not vicious with people, if they are with other animals, that I cannot accept.

i have not formally started exercising yet.  doc wants me to star****er aeorbics when wound heals.  that will be about 3 weeks out.  i have a real big hole down below my belly button about the size of a dime. is shallow, but there none the less. the place i used to go for water exercise has quit offerring it, what a bummer.  i had some time left on my card and they are nice people.  i imagine i will do most my exercising in the garage on my gazelle.  hope to start out with 20 minutes and work up to 60-65 minutes 6 times a week like i was before this last surgery.  i have an appointment w/ dr. warnock in wichita falls on oct 2 and i hope he will say it is ok. i have been doing walkign when i go shopping etc, but nothing formal.  i have this wii and i'm afraid to use it because of my knees.  i will try though. i hear sex is a terrific exercise, cardio and stretching and weights if u lift him off the bed. lol.  have a good one. hugs, vick
