Well, it's 11:00p here and as usual I can't sleep. I was wondering if anyone else was awake out there. If so, how are you? I am new here and would love to hear your story, tips, or suggestions.

hi, my name is vick. i had my rny 1/22/09 and i have lost about 123 lbs.  it was rough for me the first two months. had the runs real bad and vomitting. now things are good, i developed a hernis in my later second month and i am having it fixed the 26th of this month. i am also going to have a tummy tuck at the same time.  usually they won't do the tt this early but since i have to have this huge hernia fixed they want to do both at once. it is the size of a cantelope.  how about u, how are u doing. vick

Wow, 123 pounds since January? That is great. I am sorry to hear about the hernia, but on the plus side you will get to remove some skin!

Any idea why you had it so bad the first few months? I ask just to try and avoid any unneccessary side effects. Luckily so far, so good for me. But I still need to drink more protein shakes and get through all of those chewable vitamins everyday! I am sopposed to do 5 a day and I jsut can't get myself to chew-chew-chew through that many everyday yet, but I want to 'cuz I know I need to for my health.

I am such a night owl and everything is quiet in the house.

your life can depend on those vitamin and protein.  i had it so tough because they gave me a shot of something to get my bowels started before i left the hospital and they never slowed down until i started taking a lot of medication. everything is ok now, thank heaven.  when u start eating regular food be sure and try one thing at a time so u will know what u are reacting too. yet on the other hand don't be afraid to try something again even if it made u sick once. u'll do just fine. vick

Hey tania! I just welcomed you under your intro post. Glad to have you here.
I had Lap RNY on July 21st 2008, just over a year ago. So far I am down 97 lbs. My starting weight was 270. I was in a tight 24, and I doooo mean tight. I have just recently graduated to a size 12. Its been mega years since I have fit into that size. I also weighed less than I do now, last time I fit a 12... things change as the years go by I guess. I have 23 lbs to go to get to my goal of 150. Once I get there, we'll see how it goes, and how I feel.  I weighed 135 before I got pregnant with my first child. At first wanted to get back to that, but doubt it is realistic. You can see my pre-op pics on my profile.
I am 42, married, have 2 grown kids and 2 grandbabies. (they are the best thing in the world!) I have 3 dogs and a crazy life.
Well...gotta hit the bed. I have been up since 5 am and it's after 10. Gotta get up kinda early again tomorrow. Great to get to know you!

Did you have RNY or another procedure? Feel free to add me as a friend.
Hugs!

Oh yes... i almost forgot, gotta do my job here as leader and tell you this... TAKE YOUR VITAMINS and protein supplements as you were directed to, or you will end up with health problems.  Anemia...bad! Low B-12 BADDD, loss of bone density...baddddd... Loss of muscle.... Badddddd. (your heart is a muscle too remember!) Please be sure to force yourself to get them in.  You risk your health and wellbeing if you do not. You have to stay healthy as you go... or you'll end up miserable!  All of this is being shared with you in concern and love. Please don't be offended. I care very much for the people in this group! HUGSSSSSS

I usually don't get to seep until mid-night-ish. I hope you are doing well. I am sure we will "see" each other a lot late at night!
