still aglow
I am still wearing a glow. Feel so good about setting my date for sugery and I appreciate all the kudos from members. I am trying to do all the right things but not always sure what that is . I am told that I have fatty deposits on my liver and that I need to really stick to the liquid protien diet (which I don't start until 9/7/09) because the fatty deposits on the liver will make the surgery harder for surgeon to get done and harder for me to get through. What does everyone know about reducing deposits of fat on the liver and what I should be doing before going on the liquid protien. I have researched it on-line and a low fat, low glycemic diet is recommended --not a surprise--just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing.
My dr told me to do 1 week like this:
Breakfast: Protien shake
Snack: a fruit, cottage cheese, light yogurt, Sf jello (a few ideas)
Lunch: a Smart one Meal or lean cuizine (spellig sucks) (under 300 calories)
Snack: as above
Dinner: Same as lunch
Then 1 week like this: Same as above but instead of a meal for lunch have a shake.
then go on your liquid diet. It helps so you don't feel soo hungry on all liquid. I loved it and I am doing good. (i have 4 weeks of liquid diet so it really helped.)
Keep in touch and let us know if you need anything.

Don't panic about the fatty liver. We all had that, if we are obese our livers are affected too. So, it is the same for us all there. Thats why we all have to do the pre-op diet.
I think the suggestion above is a good one. I personally try to avoid prepared foods like frozen dinners like the plague. They are high in sodium, and most nutrition has been wiped out during processing and reintroduced later, but prior to surgery, thats not a bad idea. It will make the transition easier for sure. Congrats again! I know how excited you must be!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
I agree with Patrece, don't stress over the fatty liver, just follow your MD directions. The liquid diet isn't so bad, I have completed 10 days of that diet, 11 more to go. I didn't know what to do with my excess energy when I found out that I was getting a surgery date. Have been out walking the dogs and getting myself as fit as I can pre-op.
