I know you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) There are also prescription pain meds you can take, but tylenol is about it over the counter. It has to do with ibuprofen  possibly causing ulcerations developing in the pouch, etc. Also very hard on some of your organs.

Did you happen to ask the doc what you could use instead?  Maybe thats a good place to ask. I am sure he knows more than I. Do not take asprin either!

Hopefully someone else, who has experience with treating arthritis post op will reply and know more than I do.
So sorry you are hurting!
Hugs.
