Bariatric Buddy
For the 1st time in a long time...
I left food on my plate! LOL. I know it sounds silly, but I was a member in good standing of the "Clean Your Plate Club." Today I was allowed to have scrambled eggs, so for lunch I had 1/4 cup baby fruit (which was actually pretty good) and a scrambled egg. I stopped about halfway thru the egg, thinking I was getting full. I waited a few minutes. Took two more bites and then that was it, I was satisfied. I didn't need anymore. I WANTED more; I would have loved to finish the rest, but I didn't need any. Yay me! lol.
Does anyone else have any successes to share? Small or large? I wanna hear 'em, it keeps me motivated!!
Hugs!

Sukie...Good for you!!!! Doesn't it feel great! It is great that you stopped when you were satisfied, rather than pushing it until you were stuffed! That sounds like about how much I could eat that early out from surgery.
You bring up an excellent point. The one that you "wanted" to be able to keep eating. Thats the big challenge we face. And one of the important changes we have to make for lifelong success...our relationship with food. Now is the best oppotunity you will ever have to start getting that "food attitude" in place.
I'm proud of you! You are doing great! AND recognizing the internal challenges as well. Good for you!
My success for the day is that I ate my breakfast even tho I did not feel like doing so. I made myself. When I don't eat all meals like I am supposed to, the weight loss stops. And its hard to eat breakfast when i am not hungry for it, but I know it is a key aspect to my success, so I did it.
Hugs back at ya!

sukie, that is great, but as an old timer (oh yeah) i need to share with you that you always need to eat your protein furst just in case you can't eat all your you will get your protein in, that is very important, our lives depend on it. my success is that i ate a protein bar for lunch and i was satisfied. used to be i would have needed 6 of them. also i heard from the doc and my surgery is set for the 26th and medicare should pay for all the hospital even the tummy tuck part. we will have to pay the doc's part (2000) out of our pocket for the tummy tuck part but medicare will pay for the hernia part. vick when i figure it out i will ostsome pictures of what my stomach and hernia look like.
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
That is so awesome! I know I now eat my dinner off a salad plate. I am able to eat what's on my plate before I am full. At first this kind of freaked me out but then I remember that I used to eat 2 huge helpings on a regular size plate and then have a snack before bed. I did come up with a pretty good lunch today. I made lettuce wraps. I used romaine lettuce and laid a leaf out flat. Then I had some rotisserie chicken breast that I got from the deli sliced thin. Then I added a piece of 95% ff turkey pastrami on top of that. After that I sprinkled some ff shredded cheese and drizzled some light honey mustard on top and then rolled it up. It was so good. I also tore off the extra part of the lettuce that was just hanging off. I had to chew the heck out of it but after not eating anything for awhile it was amazing!!!
Sounds nummmmmmy, it will be awhile before I can try lettuce again. Maybe when I can eat real foods, I will try it without the lettuce and just roll the whole thing up.

Wendy it sounds like you are doing great! Good for you! One word of caution. If breads and carbs are a soft spot for you, you may choose to not use even the flat out, as it could trigger firther craving for breads and other carbs. Just be aware of how it affects you so you can defend yourself against that dreaded carb monster!
