Doing a bit better

Hey everyone...so I've been having a few better days...thank goodness the weekend was so rough. I do have to complain tho...When I got up to day I actually gained 2 pounds. And the day before that it said I gained 1. Now how is this humanly possible when all I eat is cream of wheat and yogurt? lol Is the fat protesting and hanging on to my tummy or something? It's a bit discouraging when the scale is going up instead of down.
Any ideas on what is causing this?
Thanks!

Hi Sookie, glad to hear you are starting to feel better.  Your body is realizing that the food supply is less and saving itself.  That will change with time.  Fluids shift and weight does not drop immediately.  Just keep with Dr. orders, diet as prescribed, fluids and exercise.  Strange as it sounds sometimes drinking more fluid helps the body shift the excess fluid out of your system.

I had my pre-op teaching session today, they talked about coming home from the hospital heavier than I went in and that it would change over the next couple of weeks.  Hang in the Sookie, it will get better.  Hugs

Hey Sukie. I agree 100% with Kathy. Increase your fluids. If you don't get enough your body hoards them. Strive to get in 64 or more ounces of healthy liquids each day. Another thing is to make sure you are eating as often as you were directed to as well. That helps assure your body the food is coming.
Is cream of wheat and yogurt all you are allowed to eat right now? If there are other things you can eat , you may try adding those to your intake. Also, do you take protein supplements? Are you allowed to? You may try mixing some protein into your yogurt and other foods if you cannot tolorate drinking them...IF your doc said you can have it.
Don't panic, you are going to lose the weight. Our bodies can naturally fluctuate by 1 to 3 lbs a day. You cannot gain 2 pounds a day in fat or solid body weight, so I am thinking it is some fluid retention and you need to up your liquids. And remember, it'll get better after you get your first fill.

Thanks guys, still not dropping the upped poundage but I'm trying to drink more today..I did a little 15 minute walk this morning and will do another one tonight. As soon as I see the doc on the 5th of next month I can start going to the gym again,  until then just walks he says.  Good news tho...I get to add scrambled eggs to my diet tomorrow so I'm pretty psyched! Actual food lol. My mouth hasn't chewed in a quite a while, I hope it remembers how!

I hope everyone  is having a good day!

Hugs
