I'm new
Hello everyone, my name is Michelle and I am new to this group, I am trying to find some friends that are or have gone through this wonderful change of life. I started looking into this about 5 yrs ago but I only was able to start the process this last month. On Friday I found out that I was approved for the gastric bypass now I am waiting for scheduling to call to give me my surgery date and my last pre-op class. I can't wait, I'm still in shock that I am actually going to get this done. I have two great kids and a knight in shining armor husband. They are completely behind me and can't wait til I can go on our long hikes when we are on vacation without running out of breath. I plan on running them out of breath next summer. LOL
Hi Michelle! Welcome to our group! We have anoither member who also heard Friday that she was approved for RNY and is also awaiting her date! There are some good people here in this group. Lots of people join every day, but very few are ever heard from. So thanks for stepping up and introducing yourself. You are sure to make some great friends here.
You are blessed to have the support of your wonderful family, sadly, not everyone does. it will really be a plus for you!
I am just over a year out from wls. I had gastric bypass. Starting weight was 270 lbs and I wore a size 24 - 26 pant. I am down so far by 97 lbs and in a size 14 which is a bit loose, but not quite to the 12's yet. I have 23 more pounds to go to hit my goal of 150 lbs, and then I'll see what happens from there. I won't be a bit disappointed if I went a bit lower...hehehe. I am at a point now, where the loss has slown considerably. I really miss the days when I lost 3 to 5 lbs a week or more. If i were still losing like that, I'd be at goal in no time... lol. But I am thrilled with my progress thus far, and plan to make it a lifelong success! I am 42, married, mom of 2 young adult kids, and a very proud grammy of 2.
Brace yourslef for an incredible journey that lies ahead. Its not always an easy one, but it is so worth it.
Welcome to our group! Make yourself at home here and post often so we can get to know you, answer questions, and get to be great friends. Please feel free to welcome other new members as they come in and to join in any topics you'd like!

Hi Michelle, I am Kathy. The other member Patrece was talking about who got insurance approval Friday. Looking forward to getting to know you better. I am not doing well with waiting for scheduling to call me, contacted them Friday and Monday and no call back yet. Planning to have the phone lines a humming again this morning.
Do check out the Monday chats. We cover lots of information as we get to know each other. I won't be there next Monday, going to a live meeting local for wls support.
