Embarrassing Question
Hi everyone...I hate to ask this question since it's so embarrassing but not sure what else to do. I haven't been able to go to the bathroom for about 5 days, I'm taking stool softeners and fiber and still nothing :( I'm starting to have a belly ache and not sure what to do. I know I'm not eating anything so is this normal?
Please help.
Thanks so much,
Sukie... Don't be embarassed. This is an extremely common occurance. Furst, the surgery, pain meds, and trauma will cause this. Second, decreased hydtration will cause this, third if you are taking protein it can contribute. It is not unuisal to go 5 or 6 dys after surgery. The absolute best thing to use, and it is very safe is miralax. You can get it over the counter at walmart, gracerie stores and pharmacies. It has been a life saver for many in the doo-doo dept.
Also, make sure you are getting in your 64 oz of water / liquids (sugar free non carbonated) each day.
Get some miralax and get that belly feeling better!
Hugs!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
if you need some immediate relief get a fleet enema. miralax doesn't work for me but milk of magnesia does, however it takes overnight to work.. even the miralax takes overnite. so i would try a fleet enema this time since it has been so long, you can give it to yourself, i do it sitting on the toilet. good luck to you and may the forces of nature be with you. lol vick
