Lap Band on 09/29/09 with
I will be having Lap band surgery in September..I was reading on one of the message boards about medical ID bracelets and that they are important so in an emergency if you cannot speak for yourself, the medical people will know that you have had gastric surgery.  Do you think this is only a good idea for only gastric bypass folks, or for lapbanders, as well?  According to the posts, the inscription should say no blind NG tube and no NSAIDS.

thanks in advance for your responses.

That's a really good question, and I wish I knew the answer. I've had several ppl ask me if I need to wear a med ID bracelet now that I have an object inside of me.  Hmmm, not sure

The answe to this question is YES. It is an excellent idea. It helps them know what to and not to do when treating you!

you need to find out from your doctor what yours needs to say since you have the band. i have a dog tag style necklace that  warns about the things your were talking about, but a band might need different warning. i would definately get one. vick
