has anyone heard of a shot you take 2x's per day, It's not insulin but it comes in a pen, my new dr. showed it to me today, and i can't remember the name of it.  You take it 30 min before you eat and it helps burn sugars

Hi, I'm new to the group.  My name is Ruthie and I'm from New York.  - I guess I won't be attending your 'live' support group meetings!  LOL!

Hey, thanks for this article!  I'm currently waiting to see if my insurance will pay for the surgery (Sleeve) and I am hopeful because I have diabetes type II and high cholesterol.  I should be a 'shoe-in' but you never know.

The reason I'm going ahead with planning for this surgery is to get of my diabetes!  I  hope and pray that I can.  I want to live a long and healthy life for my 9 year old boy.

Peace!

HI Ruthie, so glad you found bariatric buddy group.  I have type II diabetes as well.  Took my last dose of insulin the day before my wls.  Still needing pills to control the blood glucose, who knows, may bet off them too one day.

Will take a look at the article. However I am a type 1 diabetic, my insulin requirements dropped right after sugery. Going from 130-140 TDD - to avg 40 units daily. Still down that much even being 7 months out.

Its great your insulin needs were greatly reduced, that tells me your diabetes is in better control than it was before... Thats wonderful!

Had decent control before - just needed more of the juice to do it. LOL - Anyhow, thought I'd share with those who might be thinking about their diabetes post op.

Hello -

I have seen a similar article in the diabetes magazine I have been receiving.  I actually have saved that issue to share with others that might discourage me from having my surgery (April 20 is the date).  I am hopeful it will be resolved.  Great article - thanks.
