FREAKED OUT!!!!!

i went to my doctor today and i am totally freaked out.  he told me not to lose any more weight, that he doesn't want me to get too skinny.  i said i was wearing a size 12 and i wanted to wear a 10 at least.  i am only 6 months 1 week out.  i am supposed to snack between meals more than i already am.  i have tried to really follow his instructions but this is one i don't know if i can.  i don't want to be overweight on the bmi chart. i need to get down to 154 at least so i can be at 24.9.  this might sound shallow but i have spent the last 15-20 years being overweight and even morbidly obese.  he says after my tt i will be down to a 10 or even an 8.  however, i figure i will still weigh 158, which is 4 pounds too heavy to be a normal weight.  also, in order for medicare to pay for all my hospital bill, i might have to put off the hernia repair and tt off for 3 more months.  i brought up that i have had these rashes under my stomach for years, so i getting documentation from my doctor and pictures and they will see if the hospital will accept. the hospital won't even authorize the surgery without this documentation unless i come up with the bucks for the difference.  it has been a long day. hope the chat was great and that a lot of you showed up. sorry i wasn't there. vick  p.s. you can tell i am rattled, i am rambling.

Wowwwww Vick! I am impressed that you are down to a size 12 at 6 months out. You have lost so very quickly. I am in a 14 and weighing in at 175 at the moment. I want to lose at least 25 more lbs. Did he say why he felt you'd be too skinny if you got out of the overweight BMI range? (maybe ...please don't take offense!!! But maybe because you are large busted, that accounts for most of the weight left that is keeping you from a normal bmi?)
How tall are you? I'd say a size 8 to 10 would be awesome. But man, you have lost quickly and I can see where he is concerned, as you still have another 6 months at least that you'll keep losing, although it will slow down. (I'm jealous, wish I had to worry that I am losing too much...lol just kidding..)
After your TT, you can always get to the normal BMI range. You'll know right where you stand then. and what you really need to lose, if any to get there.
About how many pounds a week or month are you losing at this point?
I can understand how you must be feeling right now.. and aside from the fact that you want a normal BMI, how do you just STOP the weight loss when you are still in an active losing phase? Wow... Its really mind blowing! Just get in a couple of extra snacks a day...chances are you are going to keep losing anyhow right now tho, but it may slow it down a bit.
The hernia and TT surgery will work out. Keep the faith! Don't get disheartened, it may just take a little longer than you were hoping for, but it will happen. Hang in there, and reach out all you need to!
I missed having you in the chat, but I understand your appt was very important. We had eight of us in there and you and Linda were missing this time. It was great!
Relax... It will all be okay. It really will work out. I have you in my prayers. call me if you need to!
Big hugs to you!

patrece, i am 5'6" and not real big busted. he wants me to eat more to actively quite losing weight. he said he doesn't want me to lose any more weight.  i said well i'm not even down to your goal you had set for me and he said well each patient is different. he told me several times not to lose any more weight. i told him how i get full when i eat and he told me to snack throughout the day. well to me that is just setting me up for failure. what's going to happen when i am out of the honeymoon phase and i have a habit of snacking?  crazy, huh?  i haven't lost any weight in the last week and a half, but i did this before and when i started eating more i lost a about 3=5 pounds a week for 4 weeks, so i figure i will do the same thing. that is why i know i can make my goal. man, i just don't know what to do. i want to be a good patient, but i also want to not be fat ever again.  the size twelves i am in are real snug, but 14's are loosey goosey.  crap!!!!!!!!!!!  deliema!!!!!!!!!!. thanks for your support, you don't know how much i appreciate it. i will call you later today, have to take my  mom to the doc and then i want to force my dad into letting me unload part of the rv for them. thanks again. vick

You're welcome Vick. It is quite a situation... I hear ya on your concerns for setting yourself up to fail, That is a very legitimate concern, because the grazing is what gets most wls patients in trouble and regaining. Man what a catch 22. Maybe if you reduced your exercise that would help? And maybe just shoot to get more calories in to the meals you are currently consuming, somehow? NOT that I am suggesting you go against the advice of your doctor, because I am not a doctor and won't advise that, but just some suggestions I thought I'd throw out for you to consider. It would be different if you were a year out, but you are still in the heart of the losing phase, which just makes this a tough thing. What I am afraid of is that his orders to NOT lose ANYMORE weight, may not be doable being only 6 months out, no matter what approach you take in it.
I am here for you, not that I really know how to help, but I will sure support you all I can!
Hugs to you!

Imagine your whole life people telling you to lose weight lose weight and lose weight!! Im sure its difficult to hear someone say dont lose weight. We have it in,our heads for soooo long that we need to lose weight and I think if someone tells you long enough that you have a tail, you start to believe it. If your doc says not to lose anymore try and give it your best shot, remember youve only been thin for 6 mo now and thats really not that long, it takes people years to lose that kind of weight without surgery..... So cheer up vic you just have to keep reminding yourself Im thin Im thin Im thin :)... You can do this.
