Sorry I haven't been on, last minute vacation to our summer home in Wisconsin. Anyway I have been good, bad, good, bad, good, bad, all week. I start out for 3 days good (protein shakes, string cheese, low fat poultry etc.) and then by day four Im like FEED MEEEEEE. Mind I don't eat fast food, but I do like my carbs. Im doing better than no****ching at all, but my surgery is in 2 weeks and on tues Im going all liquid NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I know Ill do the liquid fine because I don't want a huge fatty liver for the surgery, but hubby is in for a BIG ***** fest lol!

Hey! I was wondering where you have been! I hope you had an awesome time!
Ok so, now its back to being good good good!!! LOL.  You will get through the liquid diet! Because you have a burning desire to succeed at this journey! AND I have complete and total faith in you! If you need support, post here or PM me or both! Carbs were always my big downfall too. But I am actually handling the change well! (Thank goodness!) Sometimes I see something that tempts me, and I just look the other way, always reminding myself of why they are not as good as they seem. Yeah they taste good, but only for a moment. Yeah they make me obese, and thats for a long time, maybe forever, if I allow them to become a part of my life again. So...I simply dismiss them (for the most part) and move on.
Now... Hubby is in for a big WHAT??? lol. your letters were replaced by stars!

That's funny that you just posted this . . . I just sent my husband out for a steak salad and Texas Egg Rolls since I have to start my liquid diet tomorrow.  I was feeling guilty, but then I had the last supper thoughts . . . and I just didn't want some grilled chicken with broccoli.  I think you did great for being on vacation and still having over 2 weeks for all liquid.  We can cheer each other on!! Good Luck!

Hi, My surgery date is August 11.  I am on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before my surgery to shrink my liver.  I am on quite a bit of medications and my liver is slightly enlarged.  I am getting very bored with the protien drinks.  I haven't found one that I really like that I can still have after my surgery.  Do you have any reccomendations?

Thanks,
Kimberly

Hi, I'm pretty new.  My hubby is going to be shocked at the changes in food in the house too.  Still trying to explain what a carb is to him.  Best of luck with the liquids.  Give me hints for when I get to that point.  I am pro-op for lap rny.

Thanks for all the responses. I just got done with dinner mmmmm, and thought Id post my thoughs real quick :). So for months now Ive been envisioning my final meal with thoughts of prime rib, chocolate lava cake or a juicy triple wopper from burgerking with a chocolate cake or a huge thanksgiving dinner with french silk pie. But alas what do I have............a low sodium, light mayo BLT actually 2 of them ( I know I know but hey it was light right lol) and a peach sucker with my multivitamin. I start my liquid tomorrow and now that Im full Im really glad I had none of those things that I envisioned, although if i have a taste for something sweet before midnight, Im thinking of kettle corn or maybe wisconsin full fat ice cream chololate raspberry truffel or or or ahhhhhh never mind, Ill just cuddle with hubby on the couch and watch a movie on cable :).

LOL...funny how our "last meal" plans can change huh? But...the blt's sound nummyyyyy! I still have them, but I use turkey bacon, and use the lettuce (in leaf form), as the wrapper, instead of using bread. believe it or not, it is very yummy like that too!
Now the snuggles with Hubby sounds both SWEET and fulfilling!  And the best part is that is zero calorie, no fat, no carb but really fills you up! (Emotionally).  How awesome is that!

Now you have me hungry! LOL.
Stay strong lady! You can do it!  YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Hi, I just started to read Bariatric Support by Janice & Hobart Williamson.  They are husband and wife.  The book is wonderful and very insightful.  It is an easy read, I am already half way through it.  I am having my husband read it after I finish.  It will give him such insight to how I have felt, what I am feeling now, and what is comming with the surgery and after.  I really think everyone should read it who is thinking about or going to have bariatric surgery.  As for the protien drinks I haven't found one that I really like.  I do reccomend that you only buy 1 bottle or can at a time.  Try it and see if you like it.  Because I thought I'd be saving money by buying a pack at a time or the larger container, but that isn't the case when you don't like it.  Sometimes I cant even finish the first serving (Yuck )

Good luck!

Hi Kimerbly,
Thanks for sharing. I have been looking for a resource that my husband could also read / more geared to him for understanding and support.  I have not had surgery yet, scheduled for June 17. I am laughing as I am also one for buying in bulk to save time and money but if you hate it - no savings for sure!  Continued success on your journey!
Best Kathy
