Hi ladies, we walked 3 miles, great walk.  Stopped by several leftover rain puddles for canine romping.  Just like todlers, if there is a puddle, they are in it.  Dry doggies by the time we arrived home.  Photo of my pups on my OH page.

I took a look at the pics on your prfile page. You fuzzy kids are cute!  Glad you guys had a nice walk! 3 miles is a great walk! GOOD FOR YOU! Keep up the good work!

Ok, now I have to ask you, because I saw your pics on your profile... What do you do for a living? Looks like something in the medical field?

Good guess Patrece,

I am a RN.  Yes, nurses are obese too.  I work night shift on a small OB/Ped unit, at least for the last 18 months.  One of the photos was taken at work.

Some of my co-workers know of the upcoming procedure.  Most are supportive, I am not listening to the couple that are not supportive.  (The non-supportive ones also have lots of other things keeping their minds busy.)  18 months ago (Jan 2007) I moved almost 300 miles (in MN winter, yup), started a new job, and withing a month of moving got married.  Wedding 02/29/07.  Big stressors, got the worst of it over in about a month.  I did move things every weekend I travelled to see my fiance.  Car never came back with as much as I brought along.  The dogs are great travelers in the car.

For the 17 years and 11 months before that I worked at an even smaller hospital.  Seems like a lifetime ago.  Probably would still be at the other hospital if I hadn't met my husband.  I am looking for a picture of him/us to put on my page as well.

Glad I found this board.  Lurker on others.  Planning to participate in Monday chats as I am able.  Hoping to see others post more too.  Next question?????

LOL. Yep, you are right, nurses ARE obese too. I am an LPN. I always had a strong dislike for working the night shift. Kudo's to you. Its a hard shift to do.
I'm glad you fround this board too! Feel free to invite any friends you may have to join us as well! I am trying very hard to get it active!  Okay so next question is: what makes this board different, that you are active here, but lurk elsewhere? What ever it is, i'm glad you feel at home here enough to be active! Thank you for your participation!

I usually worked in geriatrics, as I have a soft spot in my heart for them. The ornrier(spelling?) the more I enjoy them. lol. I was the community outreach coordinator at a local hospital, ujntil the grant funding that position was eliminated as many were during that time. Then I went to work for Lincare, I set up people on O2 and titrated them, did cpap and bipap set up and instruction and lots and lots of teaching. Then my husband had a work accident that almost took his life. He was in a coma for 3 weeks and I spent the summer in the hospital at his side. They didn't know for a while if he would survive. He was crushed head to toe by a 22 ton cememnt roof panel. He now lives in constant pain and depression and was totally blinded as a result of the accident. His face alone had 100's of fractures. If you fo to the links link to the right, you can see his website with the story, and images. I am no longer nursing. I am now in the process of transforming my life and career. My heart calls me to work with other bariatric patients, and the obese. So, that is the path I am following. It has become a passion to help others on this journey. Much of what I do is voluntary. I also do life coaching, and specialize in working with the bariatric and obese population. In the near future I plan on holding workshops, seminars and later, retreats. I am very excited about my new path. And my husband is so very supportive. Such a kind and loving man.

Answer - can't put a finger on the exact reason, maybe that the board is new and not engrained in a 'style'.  Not exactly the words I was looking for.  I need somewhere positive to be.  Found some negative vibes elsewhere that really turned me off.  Hoping this board will remain positive, telling things "like they really are", no sugar coating the truth,  while remaining ojective.  Seeing the hopeful instead of looking at, guess pesimistic fits it most closely. Most important - good gut feeling about being here.  You know that place in your subconsciousness that points the way, yup that's it.

I have had my turn with geriatrics too, enjoyed end of life care.  I worked in a 25 bed hospital where we got to 'do it all', there was a 65 bed ltc facility adjoined with us.  I brought my furry kids up to the ltc center for 'pet visits', the seniors started popping out of their doors when they heard the dogs in the hallway.  My pom is especially fond of lap time.  Doesn't matter who or where.

I clicked on the link for your husband.  So much to go through, adding you both to my prayers.  Looking forward to seeing your path evolve.  Thanks for the feedback.  Keep asking.....

Thank you for the prayers, and for the answer to my question! I usually go with my "gut" feeling too. When I don't, I usually regret it.  Learning to do this more, is something I am really working on now. Ahhhhh so much to learn, share and teach, so little time!
Hugs!
