APPROVED!
I got approved for the DS a week ago, but forgot to post here.
Now I'm in the midst of getting all my pre-op testing. Psych eval, chest x-ray, and abdominal ultrasound are done. Still need upper GI, blood work and EKG. Once my surgeon's office gets the results from the tests, they'll schedule a surgery date. I'm hoping to be done & home before my daughter starts school on September 8th. Cross your fingers!

Pre-op testing is very easy, you might have to light a fire under your psych's butt to write up the eval but otherwise piece of cake :). Good luck, I know the feeling of getting approved. It's like a weight has been lifted. You now know that you wont be obese forever. My RYN is on Aug 8th and Im on the fatty liver diet for 3 weeks then liquid for a week. Keep us posted on you journey :)

I can just feel how you are feeling. I remember so vividly the excitment and sense of hope and the feeling of "so can we just do it tomorrow?" lol. It is such a gift of hope and health!
Have they told you yet what kind of pre-op diet you will be on and for how long?
CONGRATUALATIONS!!!!!!!!!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Well, he said I only need to lose a pound or two before surgery, so just a modified Atkin's diet about 10-14 days prior to deplete the glycogen stores. Nothing too drastic.
I'm sure once I get an actual surgery date, I'll start to panic a little!
ETA: Right now my biggest worry is how I'm going to get everything done with my kids after surgery. They both have therapies and my daughter starts preschool in September. My DH only has so many vacation days. But we'll figure it out.

You may find you get a bit nervous. But maybe not. Ya know I never did after I had fully made up my mind to do it. Not even in the pre-op area. I felt quite at ease with it So, maybe you too will experience this. Never know tho.... Just have faith that you are doing the right thing for yourself, and have total faith in your surgeon, and I'm sure the nervousness will be minimal. You'll do great!
I will keep you in my prayers for your entire process, including managing things once you get home.
Hugs
