welcome to the group, i don't understand what u mean by menus. do u mean pre or post opp. i was on a liquid diet for over a month, but i was allowed a salad with veggies and 3 oz of meat once a day. i lost about 27 lbs.  it is real important  to get that liver down.  givess the doc room to see and manuver around your stomach. hope u like the group.  we need active people so post away and ask questions.  once again, welcome. vick

Okay... Here goes. As I thought, but wanted to confirm, a fatty liver diet is best summed up as a diet that is low carb, and lower fat. So, basically you will want to eat the kinds of foods that you will be eating post-op when you are back on solid foods.
Lean proteins such as chicken breast (skinless), turkey, very lean beef, lean fish, etc.
For the yogurt, try to find no sugar added yogurt. Cottage cheese is good (1% low fat). Vegetables should be focusing on the greens, especially darker greens, but does not have to be only greens. Try to stay away from canned fruits and veggies and stay away from highly processed foods. Stay away from whites! They are "simple carbs" and offer no real nutition but are packed with sugars / carbs. Whites being: sugar, flour, white breads, white rice, etc. It is also a good idea to stay away from white potato's, use sweet potato instead, if you MUST have potato. Stay away from noodles and pastas as well, if you must have these, use only WHOLE GRAIN varieties, and consume very little. And of course stay away from all sweets and junk food. If you Must have sweets, make sure they are the sugar free versions, and still use only in moderation as they can still trigger futher cravings for sweet treats. As weight loss surgery patients, we want to eliminate our cravings for carbs as much as possible, as they are one of our worst enemies in the fight against obesity. OH... and stay away from SODA...even the diet versions. Crystal light is a great alternative. I use the great value "copy cat" versions and they are great!

I hope this info helps you. I will look into some meal ideas for you this evening. I have my grandbabies here, and I am watching them. Have had them since yesterday at 1 pm and they keep me runnin my tail off..lol. So once they go home, and I am able to take the time to focus, I will get you some ideas on meals.
Have a great day and I truly hope we will continue to hear from you! You are welcomed and encouraged to post away! Lets get some friendships and conversations going here!
Hugs!

WOW thanks so much, now that I can understand and do. I have done this diet at least 10 times in the past ....he he he, and probably a lot of other people as well. I can totally do this diet for 3 weeks and then the liquid 1 week, although I say that now I can only imagine what ill feel on day three of just liquid :). I thought that I had to be on a liquid diet for the whole month. Thank you for clearing me up on that. So this diet is likethe first stage of the southbeach diet?
