Why do I have feelings that one week I want (and need) to have the band and the next week I think - Absolutely not?

Weight Loss Surgery is a major life changing desicion.  It is a big decision and not to be taken lightly. It requires a willingness to be dedicated and devoted to your choice for the rest of your life. Maybe it could be that you just aren't ready emotionally / mentally to have the procedure done. It takes a lot of people a very long time, to get to a point where they feel certain they are ready to commit to wls.

A couple of questions for you:
What is it that you are thinking and feeling when you are having the I want and I need thoughts?
What is it you are thinking and feeling when you are having the absolutely not thoughts?

Take some time to consider each of these questions deeply and thoroughly. You may find that by really focusing on whats going on inside of you during each of these opposing thoughts, you can really learn why there is a conflict and what can be done to resolve it. It may be that you are not yet ready to take this step, it could be underlying fears that shout out "absolutely not" after you were so sure it was right. It may be that you do not want to give up the relationship you currently have with food, or the fear of the surgery itsself is holding you back. Maybe it's that the band may not be the way for you to go, and another wls would be better... It could be so many things!
Try using the questions above to help you pinpoint whats going on when your thoughts are going from one extreme to the other. If you'd like you may PM me with the answers, and I will help you work through it privately. ( I am a life coach, specializing in bariatrics). The assistance I am offering you is a gift from my heart, I expect nothing in return. I just hope to help you through this. Let me know if you feel you are interested.
Hugs to you! Welcome to our group!
