Hi Patrece, Thanks for all the emtional questions.  I guess what I'm afraid of is:  Surgery itself ( only ever in hosp. to have tubal 29 years ago, losing my hair, never having any "real" prob,  although my BP is controlled with meds and recently Triglicerides up and have gotten a little scared.  My daugh just had RNY on 6/11/09 and doing fine.  I'm looking to have the band.  Afraid of having gall bladder prob. afterward, band prob. And most of all I think I'm afraid to see what I would look like - like I used to be years ago .  I know all the benefits. I'm 5'3", 55 years old, and BMI of 41.  I've been walking daily for about an hour 3-5 days/week.  My portions are prob more than my husbands.  He is very disciplined with his routine of working out. Although he likes his choc and sweets, too.  Thanks for checking back.  I can't make the chat Thurs,  I work afternoons.

Surgery is scarey. We are always taking a risk when we have a surgical procedure. But just remember, it is very few who have complications, especially if they follow the instructions given pre and post-op. But it is definately a consideration not to be ignored. I think it comes down to us deciding personally if the risk is worth the benefits. For many of us, we know our lives will be of such poor quality, or cut so short by our obesity related conditions, that we feel it is in our best interest to take the risk. Only you know where you are in this area.

My daughter also had RNY and she has had a couple of complications. I have had none. So you just never know what may happen. She had to have her galbladder out, but she lost massive weight very very rapidly. Thats what usually causes the galbladder problems. With lap band you will lose more slowly, so maybe the risk for this will be a bit less? Not sure as i am not a doctor. Ask your doctor about this.

I have to go take my hubby to an appt. Talk to you soon.
Keep your chin up. You will know if and when the time is right.
Hugs
