Hello. First, welcome to our group. I am so happy to have you here!.

Okay... Relax a bit. It is not easy to do the liquid diet, but it is imperative to a successful outcome for your surgery. Different doctors require different types of liquid diets and for different amounts of time prior to surgery. I can help you better to know what liquid diet your doctor has you following and for how long.

On any liquid diet, however, you should be able to have sugar free popsicles. While I realize these are no replacement for REAL solid food, they can be very helpful to you in getting through the liquid diet, as they are a liquid you can actually chew. Sometimes just having something we can really chew can help tremendously in helping us through the liquid diet.

Please let me know what liquid diet you are to follow, and I will reply with more support and assistance for you!

Another thing that will help you, is to remember at every moment how important this procedure is to you. The awesome life changing effect it will provide to you.. Also know that by not following the diet, your liver will not shrink down enough and can prevent the surgeon from being able to do the surgery. I will wait to hear back from you.
Hugs!... Hang in there. I will do my best to be here for you and help you through this!

Hello and welcome to the Bariactric Buddy Group.  As Patrece stated, take it easy.  A pre-surgery liquid diet really helps you prepare for the weeks after surgery when your little tummy (pouch) can only hold so much.  Think of various liquids that you can drink and keep them close at hand.  The Walmart Great Value Sugar Free drinks (like crystal lite) are really good.  Also, you can have chicken broth, popsicles, jello and other food/drink items that count as liquid.  Drink lots of fluid to keep yourself from wanting to eat.

Just remember that the wls is a tool and not an answer.  After surgery, you will still need to follow the guidelines that your surgeon and/or medical group provides for you as a resource.  You will need to learn how to use your tool  and the knowledge you obtain and/or gain from friends and others who have had wls to your advantage.  Remember you can always post on the ObesityHelp.Com website and people will respond because they have knowledge, experience and ideas that they can share with you.

Wishing you the best.

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

i am new to the group also, but welcome to you.  i know the liquid diet is hard. how long do u have to be on it?   do u get any solid meal at all?  remember that the docs are seeing if you will be committed to what is required of you after surgery, so it is important to hang in there and do the best u can.  you can pm me anytime u want and i will be there for you.  if u want i will give u my phone number so you can call if u feel like u are slipping.  hang in there. vick

You can do this!! I had a hard time too....but I kept telling myself "This is what I want to do...not what I have to do".  I wanted that surgery so bad and I wanted to be as healthy as possible when I did have it.  This is a choice we are making...you are making a choice to live a better life, helthier, more active.  You are choosing a better life and the liquid diet is just a small part of that new life.  I think the biggest struggle is in our mind.  I hope this helps.

Blessings,
Denene
