Adapted this from a recipe I found on the unjury site.

Pumpkin Protein packed Pudding

1 Package (1.4 oz) Sugar-Free Vanilla Jell-O Instant Pudding Mix *

3/4 Cup water

2 scoops  vanilla protein powder

2 tablespoons canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)

¼ - ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (Mix of Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and Allspice)

Directions:   - Measure 3/4 cup cold water (ignore package directions which call for 2 cups milk) - Add two scoops of vanilla protein powder to the 3/4 cup of water - Mix the protein powder in water by thoroughly shaking or stirring (blender worked great)   - Empty the Jell-O Sugar Free Instant (Not Cooked) Dry Pudding Mix into a bowl. - Add pumpkin pie spice to dry pudding mix. Start with 1/4 tsp and adjust to taste. - Blend spice and dry pudding mix thoroughly with a fork - Pour in the previously-mixed protein powder-and-water. - Add 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin - Stir/Beat until thoroughly mixed (a wire whisk or mixer works best)   Place in small container and chill in the fridge.   Top with Fat-Free Cool Whip. Enjoy!    Makes about 3 servings.     Nutrition Facts per serving: 107 calories, 14 g protein, 12 g carbohydrates, 3 g sugar

I had my RNY on 10/8 and am doing well except being pretty bored with all this pureed food.  A friend suggested mixing tomato soup and cottage cheese and pureeing it, said it gave the soup a cheesy flavor (and I love my cheese).  Any other recipes for those still in the puree phase would be appreciated.  My nutritionist says that on 11/4 I'll be transitioning to regular foods, with pureed foods still being part of the picture.  Any recipe hints, recipes or ideas are MUCH appreciated.  Thanks, Katie

Hi Katie, try the protein packed pudding up a recipe or two.  This will work well for pureed, plus, lots of protein content.

you really have to use caution with tomato soup. It has a huge carb / sugar content. While we should avoid these for weight loss reasons, I am cautioning you more, to help keep you from dumping from it.
You can take almost any food you like that is low carb / low fat and puree it. If it is already soft enough, you can just squi**** with your fork before you eat it.

I have been wondering- I have a ton of low carb recipes I used when l was LC dieting and was trying to figure out if I could use some of them after my RNY? Many are higher fat and I think we are more South Beach style. low fat & low carb. right? Can we have ground flax seed? I have a recipe for breakfast muffins made with egg, flax, and splenda that could be made sweet, spicy or savory and used as a muffin, bun, roll, garlic bread, etc. I'd love to be able to use it a few months out from surgury. Many of my recipes I could just adapt by using LF or FF ingredients in place of the FF sour cream, cottage cheese, cheese, etc. Any answers out there?

You can have ground flax seed later on, but you need to keep your carb intake low.. so keep a check on what those muffins contain, and yes.. very low fat and carb for sure! Otherwise you will dump, and also can contribute to regain later. I would definately usethese muffins as a treat type thing, and not eat them often as they may trigger carb cravings as well. But if you are going to have carbs, whole grain , (flaxseed ground only not whole included) and those from fruit and veggie sources are much better than flours, sugars, rice, etc...
Hope this helps!

Thanks Patrece. They do use ground flax seed, which is very high in fiber but also naturally high in fat (& vitamins). Do you use the net carb rule (carbs -fiber grams= net carbs) or go by whatever the given carb count is for foods? I plan to stay away from carbs for a LONG time other than those in fruits and vegetables! I'm just thinking ahead to what I can fix that is easily portable to carry for work, etc. I often ate these as a breakfast on the run during my year of low carb dieting. I want to use this time of waiting to help prepare for how I'll be manageing after my surgery. There are a lot of good recipes here. I know I won't be able to eat much of anything at first, and that's a good thing. But I want  to be prepared for later. Am I looking ahead too far? I tend to go overboard sometimes!

with WLS there is just the true carb count to watch .. no net carbs. So be watchful of the full carb content of things. Thats why I say to limit how often you allow yourself to have the muffins. Also as you said the fat in flax seed is kinda high.

No, I don't think you are getting too far ahead at all. Everything works better when we have a solid or fairly solid plan to follow. I think you are being wise to prepare now as you have time, rahter than struggle later when you are back at work, etc.

I used to be sickeningly strict on carbs with myself. Only carbs I took in were in my fruits and vegi's. I avoided potato's breads of any kjind, no rice, no grain type stuff at all. now I allow myself a little, but very little, as potato and bread were a weak spot for me, and do not want to get back into craving those carbs I have always loved too much. Again, if you eat ANYTHING that triggers carb cravings, steer clear of them. It is said and believed by many that even sugar free items sweetened with artificial sweetners will stimulate carb cravings. Never has for me, but seems to for many, so be aware of this as you begin to try new things.

Hope this helps you! Keep asking any questions you may have! Happy to help to the best of my ability.
Hugs!

I may have posted this before under something else, maybe here, however it is my favorite thing to have in the morning.

1/4 c. dry oats
1/3 c. water

Microwave for 1 min 20 sec

remove from microwave and add

1/3 c. ff cottage cheese
1/3 c. fresh berries (can also use a prepackaged drained cup of sugarless peaches, like the ones you give your kids)
Equal to taste.

Stir it up and if you want it warm pop it back in the microwave for 15-20 sec.
