Hi.  My name is Deborah and I will be having my surgery in the couple of months.  I joined OH in July, but haven't been very active.  As I am getting closer to my surgery date (should be in Jan) I'm getting a little nervous so thought I'd getting involved in a group or two and make some friends.

Hi Deborah, I am Kathy, had my lap RNY on 09/02/09 and it was the best thing I did for myself.  Looking forward to getting to know you better.  Please try to make chat time on Monday evenings, I am there most of the time, I miss 1 week a month for my local support group.  This is a nice time to share with each other and get questions answered.  We are here for positive support for each other, and the occasional gentle kick in the rear when needed.

Hi Kathy.  Thanks for the reply.  I'll try and make the Monday night chats.  That's a good night---nothing happening at the school where I work, so I'm usually home those nights.

Wow, you just had your surgery.  How are you feeling?

Feeling great, got back a few days ago from an 11 day road trip.  Used my time off for a much needed vacation.  Work wouldn't allow me back to work with  lifting restrictions.  I will be back to work next Wed. on the 14th.

What do you do at school? Teach, other?  I have great respect for teachers, not my kind of job.  Bless you for looking after the youth every day.  I am a nurse and work the night shift.  Lots of folks don't want my job either.

Hugs, Kathy

Good idea to combine the road trip with time off.  Did you have any problems traveling that soon after surgery?  My daughter had the surgery last year (BTW-she's a nurse too)  And she said she was really tired all the time.  I think they found out she wasn't eating enough protein or something.

I'm a teacher at a school for deaf children, ages 18 mos to 22 years.  I was in the classroom for many years, but now I am kind of the assistant to the Supt who is deaf.  He is a great guy to work with, so I'm really enjoying my job.
