Bariatric Buddy
Welcome!
I never regretted my wls. But I did go through a bout with depression. Many do. There is an article posted here in our group blof that explains some of the reasons for it. The blog link is to the right of this page and the article is 2 or 3 pages in, but please go read it. It will answer a lot for you.
Why is it that you hate your surgery so much? Are you missing food? (the comfort of it)
Don't be sorry for going on. THATS what we are here for, so please know you can share and talk about and ask what you need and want to and no one minds at all, especially me. I wish we could talk by phone, but I am afraid a phone call to england would cost me a bunch of money.
I think one thing that may help you is to find a way to embrace this journey you are on. You had the surgery and are losing well, either way, its done now and can't be changed most likely. Just try to take small steps to adjust to it and accept it, and little by little you will begin to be happy about it I think. I have known people who have had a terrible time with it (a lady I know in Australia...terrible terrible infection and complications due to a poor surgeon). She regretted it terribly for about the first 10 months. But now she is thankful, even given all the hospital time and suffering she went through early on.
You are going through so many changes and adjustments. and with the lack of good support from your surgeons office, its no wonder you feel overwhelmed and regretful. You must feel awfully lost and alone. Please let me know where your regrets are coming from and I will do my best to help you through these areas. If you can afford the call, and want to talk on the phone, I will be happy to PM you my phone number. I am a bariatric success coach and a dually certified support group leader, and would love to offer my help to you to help get you to where you have no regrets and can embrace and enjoy this journey more. PM me (send message) if you want my number, or let me know here and I will PM you.
It WILL get better. It really will. Especially when you are able to get the guidance and support and understanding you need to help you through.
Big BIG hugs coming your way.

Great to meet you here Zoe. You will find many positive supporters here. I am so glad that I had the wls, wish I had been wiser and had it done shortly after high school, or at least a couple of decades ago anyway. We become wiser as the years pass and our current attempts to lose the weight fail.
Get in and post here, attend a local wls support group. The feelings should ease. Know that we are here for your moral support, want to be there for physical support too, but time and distance does not allow that. I am so glad that I made the decision. Hope you feel better about your choice quickly. Hugs

Hi Zoe, I have been dealing with depression for many years. Having this surgery was one of the best things I have done for myself. I had a very uneventful surgery and recovery. I had no hunger and drank because I needed to for some time after surgery. Over the course of a few weeks, I was able to get in the liquids pretty easily. I wish I still had no hunger. This is a day to day working the "program" set out by my surgical team. One day at a time, with the help of my friends here at OH and support at home.
Has your MD started you on something for the depression? Having regrets is common for some, this feeling eases as you get farther out from surgery and really start to see results. I take meds for my depression and do not plan to stop them. I found out what happened when I forgot to put the pills in my med planner for a week several months ago. Not doing that again. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. There are wonderful meds(chemical replacements) that ease the symptoms. Work with your MD to find what is best for you. Even a short term use of medication helps some.
Wishing you a rapid resolve of these feelings. Is there anything that we as a group can do to help? I go to as many support meetings as I can for the group support. Checking the threads here on OH helps me too. You are not alone. We are here to travel this adventure with you. Lots of (((((Hugs)))))

I am new to the website. I have been researching WLS for some time and have recently begun the process to change my life. I am still learning about all my options and so forth, and am just looking for some fellowship, and to soak up as much information as possible.
A little about me: I am 21, and live in Indianapolis IN. I am married and have a 10 year old step-son. I have been over-weight my entire life and was diagnosed PCOS about 2 years ago. Since i have been diagnosed on off BCP I have gained so much weight. Heart issues, diabetes, and sleep apnea run rampant in my family. There are many reasons I have decided to embark on this journey, but my over all health is top rated.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any and all support.

Hi Kelly! Welcome to our group!
It will be best for you to post your introduction in a new topic post in addition to the one here, as many do not notice the new member intro's here.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey and quest for good health. You are smart to take action BEFORE things get way out of hand. Please be sure to learn all you can, so you go into this with your eyes wide open. This will help you succeed for the long term. Please remember lots of changes will have to take place, but with your surgical tool, it is much easier to incorperate them before surgery and during the rapid loss phase, so when thngs slow down, you keep gong in the right direction.
Ask any questions you may have. Again...welcome to our group.
