 HI, I'm Misty, My profile says I've been a member since 2010 but actually Ive been a member for years, I couldn't remember my email or password I was using back then 2004ish.  I just started a new insurance and found out they cover WLS. I really hope I get approved and have WLS and can be an inspiration to those going through what I am right now. I am so glad to have a forum like this to vent and mingle with others who are going or gone through the same thing. Thanks for having me,

My name is Malorie, and I am 20 years old, 21 in june. I am just going through the beginning processes for getting surgery. I still have not even met with a surgeon, yet. But I am optimistic and am really looking for the support, due to the fact that some of my family does not agree with my decision.

Hi Malorie. Welcome to the group. Good luck with your journey. Sorry some of your family is not supportive of your decision. Some of mine weren't happy in the beginning, mostly because they were afraid something would happen to me. But as I was able to explain more and more to them, they were understanding. We also knew a couple people who had WLS and were doing great, that helped them too.

My daughter just turned 21 and would love to have WLS too. Unfortuantely, she doesn't have insurance at this time. Maybe sometime in the future it will work out for her. I would be very supportive, but I'd worry about her just the same, so I can understand how my family felt! and how your's would feel that way too.

Post often and let everyone get to know you. It's a great group here!

Hi everyone,
My name is Davina and I am new to OH and am very happy I found it as I do not have a huge support group near me. I have been overweight for the last 22 years. After I was left a quadriplegic after a car hit me, exercise was out of the question and food.. well it was comfort. Luckily I am now only an incomplete quad, which means I can walk but exercise is still very difficult especially with me being as big as I am. I am hoping to walk as much as possible and when the weight starts melting off.. to be able to exercise the way I want and need to build this body back up:) 

My RNY is scheduled for May 3rd 2010 and I have started my pre-op liquid diet.. it isn't as bad as I thought it might be.
I am looking forward to getting to know you all and get advice and hopefully give some advice as well.

Wow... you are a strong and determined lady and are facing and beating some incredible odds! Kudos to you for taking a step to make your health as good as possible and move beyond all that makes life even more of a challenge!
Congrats on your fast approaching surgery! I know yu must be very excited! I am glad the liquid diet hasn't been too hard on you.
