I am Synthia, I am 42 & I have a 22yr old daughter. I will be 1 month out on the 23rd & I can go to the soft food group. I am haveing a hard time getting in all the proteins & water. Will it get easier?? Also can anyone tell me if in time I can have salads again??? I miss my salads. 2 more weeks I will get the "G" tube removed, I can't wait. I will be a new Grandma in about a month, I'm so excited!!!! May everyone have a wonderful day.
Congrats on your surgery! YES It will get easier. It really will. I have never heard of one having a G tube in from RNY surgery. One way to get in a combo of more water and protein is to mix crystal light with a scoop of protein and sip sip sip every time you think of it. Sugar free popsicles help too with getting in liquids.
Yes you can have salads again! your doc or nutritionist can tell you when, but for me I was able to at about 3 months. Hang in there! It gets much easier as time goes on.

I should have done this earlier and I apologize for not doing it.
My name is JoAnna, I am a proud Army wife and mother of three beautiful girls. I am 5'5 and weigh 212. We currently live in San Antonio, TX. I don't have a surgery date yet, but I do hope to have one in the next couple of months. I've already been to a seminar (actually four seminars...lol) and I have my first official meeting with the surgeon on the 7th of April! I look forward to meeting lots of new friends!!!

I started gaining weight when I was pregnant with my son 32 years ago. Since then I've struggled with my weight constantly - losing 50, gaining back 75, etc. I've been to Weigh****chers a million times, I've tried and started so many different diets over the years, it's hard to remember them all.
I had been thinking about some sort of bariatric surgery for about 5 years before I finally took the plunge. I wasn't sure what to do, there were insurance issues, health issues, etc. Last March my Internist told me that I needed to get the process started and go see the surgeon for a consultation. I had my surgery on 3/12/10 after several delays from last April until now.
I'm very excited about my new lease on life. I feel better, have more energy, and I'm more optimistic and hopeful than I've been in years. I can't remember the last time I felt this good. I started my pre-op liquid diet on March 1st and just finished finished it today. In that 25 day period I lost 37 pounds. What a great start to keep me motivated and encouraged!
I look forward to getting to know people here and hope to join in for a chat one of these days soon!
