So glad to meet you Kym,  come post often on the board.  You will get more benefit from sharing communication with the rest of the group.  Ask any and all questions.  I went to my first wls seminar feb 2009, insurance required a 6 month supervised diet program and had my surgery sept 2.  Initially it seemed like a long time, in hind sight, I needed that time to start making the needed adjustments in my life.  Hang in there and hang around with us.  Hugs

Kym... I think you have definately found the place where many many people can relate to all you are going through. Your story is so similar to many others. When it comes to your insurance company, if they deny, appeal and appeal again! If that doesn't work there are attorneys that specialize in fighting the insurance company for us, for wls. Hopeful;ly it won't have to go nearly that far. With the excess weight, and the other health issues, you should qualify.

I too am a grammy. If it were not for this surgery, I would never be able to enjoy those babies as much as I can. I can run and play with them, get down on the floor and even get back up. It is awesome. I know it is a precious gift I would not have recieved without this surgery.

I rode the same diet roller coaster, or at least a similar one. Most of us have. You will find some great people here to support and encourage you along the way.

Welcome to our group and our family.

Hi I've actually been on this website for years, but just now really getting things going, I keep ending up with insurance that excludes the surgery but am now at a point in time where I am going to have finance it, my comorbidities are taking over my life and on my own I just keep losing and gaining the same 20 pounds over and over.

I am from WA state, I have 4 kids ranging from 28 to 16 and one beautiful granddaughter, I need to lose about 200 pounds.  I want to be around to see and play with more grandchildren and I like to be active but its getting more difficult all the time.  My surgeon will schedule me as soon as I have the financing so keep your fingers crossed that I find a way to do it.

Welcome to our group and best of luck in getting the financing in order! I have 2 kids, 22 and 24. I have 2 grandbabies and one on the way, and they are the sunshine of my life!  It is awesome how after you lose the weight, playing with them is such a gift and so much more enjoyable than when you had to struggle just to talk and breath at the same same.. lol (for me anyhow).

Best of luck in getting everything in order and having your surgery very soon. Glad to have you here!

Hello. I am new to this group. I have been going through the pathway to bariatric surgery since Sept 09. I have heard from my surgeon that he thinks it will be April before i can be scheduled. I am hoping to have a laparoscopic RNY. I have been taking all my supplements to start on a good regimen prior to surgery. I am trying to lose 5-10 pound prior to surgery. I hope to have a good experience and use this surgery as a tool to get healthy and stay that way for life.

I am currently 245 at 5'2"and my goal is 140.

Thanks!

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! April is just next month, so not too much longer! Let us know when you get your date for sure so we can add you to our list of surgeries upcoming. good luck on reaching your loss goal of 5 to 10 lbs. If your surgeon has you do a liquid diet, that will definately help.

We have weekly grup chats on Mondays at 7 pm eastern time, so join us next Monday if you can.
Welcome!

Hello all! My name is Lacey and I am 25, I have been heavy since about 7 years old, and I have much joint pain. I had my 1st supervised weight loss on the 12th March. They put me on the Liver Reduction Diet.  I am a vegan, an artist,  mother of a 10 month old: Thomas, and married to a wonderful man who loves me for who I am! My BMI is hovering  around 50, and I became very scared that if I didn't do something I would just keep getting bigger and bigger. Scary. So here I am scared and excited all at the same time! LOL
