Morning June and welcome to this fine family.  I am taking a copy of your post and sharing with the rest below.  You will like the positive tones here.  Participation is the key to getting the most out of the support.  Hope for the best for you.  I am 5 months out from surgery now and my knees are singing the praises of less of me to carry around.

Hi everyone
My name is Debbie and I am British but now living in Dubai. I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve and gall bladder removal on 9th March in the American Hospital in Dubai.

I am 287 lbs as of today and have about 120 lbs to loose. I have been on the lose weight/gain weight merry-go-around since I was 16 - now 43 and time to do something about this.

My gall bladder surgery is on insurance and the sleeve may be, if not I will pay for it myself anyway as i've decided that this is my year and it's time to put me first !

Take Care
Debbie

Good Morning Debbie, great to make your aquaintance.  I am adding you to my list for surgery in March.  Please post often to get the most of the support here at bariatric buddy group.   I am glad that you are putting yourself in the top spot for this year.  I am adding your intro to a thread below, more members read the individual threads than this group welcome thread.  Thanks for posting, I want to learn more about you and share your success along the way.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!

Hello. I am a 40 year old overweight woman who is just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have two children ages 22 and 19. I have two grandchildren, ages 1 and 1 month. And a husband of 22 years. I need to lose at least 120 pounds. I have been struggling with my weight since my second child was born. But in the past 10 yeas it was gone completely out of control. I have tried WW so many times, I tried a Medifast program for a few weeks ( it was so gross), I have tried following Southbeach, and many other commercial programs. I have tried counting calories and fat grams. And I can lose 20-30 pounds and I gain it right back.
I currently have Obstructive Sleep Apnea, High Cholesterol, A total knee replacement ( due to a injury) and severe joint pain in my legs. I am prediabetic and  was told I have metabolic syndrome.
Whats so frustrating to me is I cant succeed at losing weight. I try and lose and then fail.
I have been looking into weight loss surgery for many years. I get frustrated with insurance and give up. I guess I need to dig in and make them listen to me.
I want to live. I want  to have a life that doesnt involve pain everytime I move, or feeling like I cant breathe when I walk a flight of stairs. Or one in which I can play with my grandkids on the floor and hope and pray I can get off the floor.
I guess I need to talk to people who know how I feel and can understand how hard it is. I have read that the journey to approval of being able to have WLS is a long one. I need help with patience and guidance.

Thanks in advance and God bless

Kym
