Been on spring break, but I am back to my routine today !! Actually weighed two pounds less today ! WooHoo !!
Cathy, Hope your knee gets better soon ! I had TKR in 2011......although I am doing better than before surgery, I still have problems......but it is MY tendency to grow scar tissue so readily and that is my problem.....too much scar tissue. I have had scar tissue problems after EVERY surgery that I have ever had, including my gastric bypass. Most everyone else does really well after a year......they really don't tell you that until after surgery. Hang in there !
my eats for today......
breakfast......protein coffee
lunch............baked turkey corn dog/ broccoli/ pineapple slices
snack...........Apple/peanut butter
dinner..........ham/baked veggies casserole
I hope everyone has a healthy eating day !!
Good Morning. Sorry you're having trouble with your knee Cathy, I'm sure your MD will have some answers.
My plan for today:
B: Click
L: Sandwich thin with deli turkey, dill pickle
D: Hamburger, no bun, salad
S: Cinnamon toast pretzels
Have a good day
KICK in the booty!!!! You can do it, the first step is always the hardest. Once you start it will get easier! Today is my first day back to the gym in just over two weeks, I just felt blah too. So there it is, KICK KICK KICK!!!!!
Hard winter and a stream of difficulties have given me an excuse to let things slide. Haven't gain a lot of weight, but haven't been exercising and I feel blah. I've finally made it to Medicare, which made my new knee possible and also gave me Silver Sneakers, but I have yet to get myself over to the Y and enjoy it. I keep finding excuses for myself, which is so not a good thing! I have a sister who keeps telling me the answer is to "just get off your dead a** and do it". I know she's right, and I'm running out of excuses I can make myself believe.
Please kick me. I need it!!!
Good morning!! I have no clue what im gonna eat but I know its all gonna be healthy! And im goin back to the gym today!! New outlock on things! Hope everyone has a good day!!
My incredible daughter who is smart enough to remind me to be nice to myself. Yesterday, we were watching home movies and I commented how fat I was. She simply looked at me and said "instead of saying that, you should be saying - look how far I've come." I'm so grateful that she is mature enough to call me out on my bad example that I was setting and put me on the right path.
Hi Cathy,
Sorry you're in pain today. I had my TKR January 2014. A year later, I'm a happy camper, but the journey was a roller coaster. There are different possible reasons why your knee could be in pain, and most of them are perfectly normal where you are in healing. BUT - when you reach your orthopedist, press to be seen ASAP since there is a possibility you have some infection in there. Just a possibility, so don't panic, but then a little paranoia goes a long way when you're rehabbing a new knee. Much better to be told that it's just the usual in the ortho's office then to end up in the ER because you hesitated to "bother" him with questions! Case in point:
My surgery healed splendidly, but then I hit a speed bump nobody even mentioned as a possibility: the soluble stitches inside my thighs were NOT dissolving! Instead, my body had started to build capsules of fluid around them like an oyster makes pearls. But pearls they were not, and I started to feel "hard spots" in there, but I hesitated to call my ortho about it since I had no signs of infection. I was finally forced to seek my orthopedist's advice when one of them found a channel to a weak spot along my scar and started to literally spurt out! Agggh! My new knee worked well getting me to the ortho ASAP! The situation worked itself out, and my knee today is fine. So fine, that there were times this past winter when it was the only joint on my body not aching from the weather. Heh!
I'm having a difficult time with my knee. It aches all the time but is getting worse. My scar is hyper sensitive to the point that if anything touches it I have pain. I'm also having shooting tinges of pain. As a result of that, I'm not able to sleep. When my surgeon's office opens, I'm calling to make an appointment.
In the past, I would have turned to food to nurture and comfort myself. I haven't done that which I'm grateful for.
Monday eats:
B - Coffee
L - 1/2 Turkey sandwich
D - Talipia with green beans
S - Pear
BOT - Keep your head in the game!!

One of the most important things to get back on track and stay there is tracking our food and activity. I also use MyFitnessPal but will check out Mynetdiary.
I'm glad that you're back on OH and BOTT - you've been missed.

Love your post! Your insight about the slippery slop is so true. One of the main reasons to be on track is what you've pointed out about how you feel when you "carb creep" and being on track makes you feel sane.
Although I know all of that you said is so right on target, what you wrote is motivating to me.
Thanks for the support in your post.
Cathy
