Well, the weekend is over - thank god!  I have to admit that I'm really starting to see where and when I struggle - and why.  It's when I'm at home trying to do 15 things at once that I go off my plan - I forget to eat and then I eat the wrong things. Especially when I'm out and about doing errands. I'm thinking that I need to eat by the clock. If it's lunch time and I'm like "I'm not hungry" and go about doing my errands, around 2 or 3 I'm ravenous and in a position where I do not have healthy alternatives. I fall back on junk food. Why is it so easy to eat 4 servings of chips and never feel full, but to eat 3 or 4 oz of meat (1 serving) and I can't eat another bite without getting sick. :-/

So my food plan for today is

B: Protein shake on the way to work, Greek 100 yogurt 1/3 cup flax/pumpkin seed granola

L: carb-smart tortilla, 2 oz grilled chicken, grilled peppers and onions, salsa

s: babybell cheese, banana

D: 3 oz burger patty, 1 slice American cheese, 2-3 stalks gilled asparagus

Congratulations on the new promotion. Thats awesome! As for the weight, what does YOUR scale say? It could be that the doctors scale is not calibrated right or it could be that you just weighed different due to the time of day, and or what you are wearing. I was told to pick a scale to go by and stick to it. Also to weigh at the same time of day wearing the same thing.  I *officially* weigh on Wednesday mornings as soon as I get out bed (after using bathroom) and usually in my undertank and panties.  I have fallen back into weighing every day sometimes several times a day. Shh, don't tell hubby he will take the scale away again.

I think I kinda fell off this week as well. I haven't taken any of my vitamins at all this week and my water intake has been so so. Yesterday and today I met the water goal but the rest of the week not so much. Tomorrow is a new day and I WILL take my vitamins.  I did "cheat" today and I had a cupcake (it was awful and I regret wasting my calories on it) at a birthday party we went to but I am still within todays goal of protein just on the higher side of my calorie goal.  Since having the cupcake I've felt icky and I'm craving salt...so weird.  We stopped at the store on the way home to pick up asparagus for dinner and I grabbed a jar of dill pickles to snack on for the drive home.

Here's to getting back on track with eating, water and vitamins.  We CAN do this!!!

And again, did well yesterday - until evening. Evenings get me, they always have.  Yesterday, I ate some of my son's oreos. I haven't eaten oreos in years! WTF was I thinking!

Although something has been drifting through my mind and I'm wondering . . . since my surgery, I've noticed that I'm almost hyperactive. Looking at it, I'm beginning to think that my overeating has been my way of dealing with and medicating ADD/ADHD or something.  Because I'm noticing a pattern - when I'm not moving and doing, I want to eat and it's mindless eating.

Anyone else experience this?  I mean where you can't slow down unless you eat something high carb? :-/

Anywhoo, here's my find plan for the day. I will mention that it's good, until evening . . . I think I'm going to have to go back to protein shake with banana or something at night. . .

B: left over pork tenderloin. Very yummy and fulling!!!

no snack - still full. Drinking a multivitimum water called eco-drink

L: going out with collegues. Planning on grilled chicken and veggies.

Snack: Popcorn and fruit (afternoon stretch break at the office. I'm pledging to SKIP the cookies, guys!)

D: Grilled chicken kabobs and grilled asparagus.  The aspargagus went over well last night, I only got 4!

S: Protien shake.  Maybe a banana. I don't have one at home, but if we go to the café for lunch I'll grab one there.

I feel ya!  For the last 5 years since we moved, I feel like  I have been changing jobs every 18 months - mainly because I have as new opportunities - some of which were BAD - presented themselves.  It's so hard to be honest. My challenge is in the evening when the days tasks are done.  Not good at all!

Back to basics, trying every day.

At almost 5 years out, I have chased my tail over these same things more than once.  This is what I did this summer to change:

  • walk a minimum of 3 miles/day; been averaging 25 miles/week; if you can get at least some of your walking in at the start of the day it jump-starts you metabolism
  • eat 1,000 or less calories 2 consecutive days with the carbs under 50 and protein over 100.
  • eat 1,000 to 1,200ish calories the other days with carbs under 100 and protein over 100.
  • drink a minimum of 64oz of water
  • don't eat pasta, rice, crackers, cookies, popcorn, chips, etc...
  • carbs come from yogurt, fruits, vegetables and bread products like Joseph's Lavash wrap (the whole wheat, oat bran, flax one), Fold-its, Special K protein cereal and occasionally potatoes or corn on the cob(this only because it is so fresh right now)
  • I log all my food and plan a week at a time (subject to change as the week progresses, but staying within the parameters I have set)

I have lost 8 pounds this summer doing this.  I have another 13 or so to go to get back to the weight I was at 2 years (145).

Persevere!!! You will win in the end.

Good News!!! I finally got my Promotion. Focused shifted to new job, that has not even started yet. Technically Aug. 17. Overwhelmed & anxious at the same time? Got discouraged went back to Arthritis doc, blood test normal, Vit-D low, on a new Vit-D supplement. On there scale I only lost 1lb. from my last visit. I was so pissed. All this walking for what? and still aching like hell? what's the point? I thought I lost 7lbs. now I am not too sure. Failed the entire week at the water challenge guys. Glad I was able to motivated, others!! This summer has has been real wacky, I've been chasing a promotion and trying to keep my head above water. Now I just need to get my self back on track. Do I just starve myself? I could never do that? Athough I've been off the grid for several days, please know I will always return at some point, it's just life takes completely over and I have to play catch up.
Under the added stress of relief of the promotion, I've been eating bread, ice cream and everything else? I have been feeling fat, and from eating all this anything foods, I feel so fat & my clothes feel tight, & this was days before the docs appointment. I just have to start at ground zero again. I feel like I should do something drastic but I have not clue as to what?
Back to water, Protein, fruits & veggies. I will check back in again asap. Staying on the board, I have realized keeps us accountable to some degree.
Keep up the good work, everyone else.

Just because you don't feel your RH it does not mean your BS does not fluctuate making you v hungry at times, and make you chose not the best foods.

I follow LCHF diet, and I try to balance every meal with 2:2: 1 ratio fat:proteins:carbs

The pouch takes care of the volume. My meals typically will have more or same gr of fat as proteins, and no more than 50% of carbs.

I.e meal would be 15 gr of fat+ 15 gr of proteins + 7 gr of carbs, with less than 5 gr from sugars.

I avoid grains, most fruits, get some berries every 2 weeks Or so... Eat nuts...

My weakness is wine and... PB.. Love that stuff... When I drink wine I eat more food and I can eat more...

I love PB.. NSA - still very high in calories... But I can eat 1jar in 2-3 days..on top of my normal food... So I use that as "a lesser evil"  when I had a really, really bad day and really really want hard pretzels or a huge Cuban  sandwich... Nice and warm, crispy on the outside,

so I pick a jar of PB... And eat that.. With a spoon..

We all have our triggers...

that's what I do. I avoid grains, and all starchy carbs.   I test my body reaction to any new foods..

I can eat veggies, nuts, eggs, meat, fish, etc...

even a handful of potato fries may make me get RH.

or sweet coating on "coconut shrimps"...

I can work around dumping... but RH - scares me .. I had way too many. and once my BSdrops really low - it is a ***** to have it stable again.

Thanks for the article Hala. What are those of us who've had RNY supposed to do, avoid carbs I assume?
