Topic: WEEK 5 BOT

I didn't get a chance to post last Saturday which was the end of my 30 day/4 week BOT challenge I gave myself to loose 5 pounds and stay away from refined sugar and flour, drink all water, record all food, and eat veggie/fish/plant protein and get back on track.

I gained a half a pound the final week which bummed me out.  But I know why - I ate too many calories (I recorded them). But I did loose 4.5 pounds over 30 days.  I think now the real work begins.  Water weight is gone and it may be slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow losses from here with big effort. I find that hard.  but if I can loose even incrementally - that would be great.

I won't list all my stresses with work, business travel, family, life, etc. but they are many and intense. Having a harder time focusing and wanting to eat for emotional reasons more. And start traveling for work again starting tomorrow and find eating out with work people hard - I want to reach for bread and share desserts.  And this trip will be visiting family as well who will want to do nothing but feed me. So need to psyche myself up.

It helped me to have a 30 day goal and to ramp up to committing,  I need a revised plan/goal to contain my actions.  Will give it thought....as I drink my water...;)

So many people I know, including myself - are going through extremely challenging times. We do have set backs.  But I heard a saying recently - "Your desire to change must be stronger than your biggest excuse OR CAUSE to prevent your change." Because there always seems to be set backs and really difficult challenges.

Trust me - I am no saint. I am learning this. But it did resonate with me.  People die. Diseases come. House, partners, jobs, all change.  Our generation seems to be in a revolving door of stress and no time for ones self.  And yet - we do control what we eat. And the desire to change what we eat has to be stronger than the stress that promotes us to make sugar or other choices that don't promote our health.

But I GET IT.  Life is HARD. You have lots of change to manage. I think eliminating those trigger foods (we all have different ones) and recording all you eat, and exercising when you can, at minimum will help you feel healthier and more in control and at maximum promote weight loss.

That said - I am working on the same challenges. And I know how disappointing it is to feel like you have worked hard on a plan and then see no weight loss that reflects the effort.  But don't give up. Others have done it - so you can too.  We all have set backs. Just keep at it!

I live in SC... hot hot hot..  not as hot as Texas- but hot enough...Nut butter, my cookies - I keep in the. Pork rinds - most stores have that, as well as nuts.. (gas station on every corner)... The epic protein bars and nut butter - - my purse... (that I never leave in a car) That's why i use the individually packed nut butter. no oxygen - no spoilage.  The nut butter never last more that 1-2 months in my car- I eat it - since more than no I am running here and there.. That is very useful to eat as I am getting into a store to get groceries..

Yesterday went well.  I stayed mostly on track, although I do think I need to have an afternoon back up in case I'm craving in the afternoon. I had a Larabar to tied me over.  I got ALL my water, plus some.  Isn't it interesting that if I do one thing well, others tend to follow?

I'm mixing things up a bit today

B: lean hamburger patty, cheese, low-carb tortilla

L: Frozen dinner - HB patty with borachco beans

D: Moroccan chicken with low-carb tortilla, grilled peppers/onions

Snacks: greek 100 yogurt, babybell cheese, banana

Great ideas!  One of the problems I have is that I live in Houston, TX.  Hot, hot, hot! And so things that may melt or go bad is a no-go.  Nuts I tend to go 'nuts' over. :-)

I like the pork rind idea. :-)

I carry protein bars - that are good for me - but don't taste that great (so I would only eat that when needed) - for me - that are

  • "Epic Bars " (I am allergic to whey and soy)
  • Individual portioned nuts (almonds,)
  • Individually packed nut butter : justin's' almond
  • if I want to be decadent I get the Creamy Coconut & Peanut Spread Squeeze Pack by Earth balance.
  • Pork rinds. - they do have more proteins than fat and no carbs. And even if I want to I can't eat more than 1/2
  • small OSTRIM meat sticks.. ( I really don't like them that much - so they are perfect...)
  • Bacon jerky...
  • .  justins classic almond butter squeeze packsr1-EARTH-053-smpkgcoconutPB

These are small packs. and are 200 cal each. They have fat - and once I eat one - I really can wait 2 hrs before I eat.

I also make my own protein snacks.  I use almond butter, eggs,. and shredded coconut.. make "cookies (5-6 dozen at one time) and dry them. They get really nice and crispy and last dry for weeks without refrigeration. (in my car, purse) .

Problem would be if kids like it -they would scarf them down..

My BF does not like that - but even if he did - knowing this is my emergency stash - he would never eat that

I think the challenge is to find something good enough for you to eat - but only semi tasty-  so you or your kids will not touch that unless really have to.

i.e. they have almonds covered in SF chocolate coating - and they make a small 100cal packs... well.. I will eat them ... just because they are yummy... too yummy...

I also learned to be selfish... and say "no, this is mine, I don't share that" if someone ask for a taste or a bite... They can have anything - I am very limited what I can have...

When I used drink protein shakes - I would have a individually packed protein powder with me - and I knew I can ge****er and mix that, and drink anytime.  RTD at home - so when I got really busy - just mixing that with ice (in summer - hot days) or with coffee (winter) gave me a quick fix to "food" like...

That's why I always carry "food" in my purse - at least 2 servings.. plus extra in the car. Something that can be there for a weeks without going bad.

It is habit that I developed long time ago... It helped me in so many situations...
