Welcome!

I know where you are coming from. I wonder if Cathy W. has it on her page. I know she has posted it. I will try to find it for you.

For me some of the basics are

no liquid 30 minutes before or after a meal

no unplanned snacking

getting atleast 60 grams of protein a day

staying away from refined carbs (not an easy feat for me!)

journaling, its a pain but it keeps me honest, I always quit journaling and weighing in when I am off track.

Hang in there Nicole!

PS, I dont have great computer skills, but you were right about the article, when you are at the forums page, search getting back on track and its the first article to pop up

Life happened as I've read from so many of us. I found that I dealt with it with a huge amount of self-sabotage. I tore my house up looking for my book from the WLS nutritionist showing the amounts of proteins daily, etc. I decided to Google it. I was even more confused than ever. THEN I remember OH. The light bulb came on and I had to dust off my email to search for my login. (Rambling..sorry)

I saw a reference to '16 steps or things to get back on track'. I'm sure I'm misquoting. Can someone point me in that direction. I need to get control of my life, today.. I'm fell so lost. Please Help!

just plug it along...

if i eat chinese - (no rice) I often "gain" 2-4 lbs the next day. Sodium does that to me. Plus exercise - can cause the muscles to retain more water (swelling).

one day at a time...

Topic: This Week

This week just seems like an epic fail. Every day I have gotten on the scale and every day I have gained weight.  I am up two pounds from Sunday.  I am not discouraged but I am frustrated.  I've been eating a lot of sodium lately in the Lean Cuisine and I am wondering if the weight gain is due to water retention.  I've also been working out three times a week so maybe some of it is building muscle mass.  Whatever it is, it needs to stop. I need to see some progress to stay motivated.

I don't drink water.  It's just something I am not in the habit of doing.  Today I started out by drinking 20 ounces of water.  I will keep increasing that to 64 ounces but for this week, I think 20 ounces a day is good.

I suppose I can be proud of the changed behaviors like logging my food, drinking water and exercising three times a week.  I can even be proud of trying to make better nutrition choices but all that just doesn't seem enough without the weight loss.

Every night I feel like a child on Christmas Eve eagerly going to bed so that in the morning I can get on the scale and receive my present that I have worked so hard for.

Yesterday went well, except that I did not drink my water. I find that making sure I bring a water bottle to work is necessary for ensuring that I drink my water during the day. :-/

Today's food plan

bfast: skinny latte, bfast taco

snack: protein shake

lunch: 1/2 turkey sandwich, 1 cup soup

Thanks! I have to remember that very often. Generally speaking, I try not to eat things like candy. Not only does it make me feel blah, but then I end up with cravings and being out of control! It's better for me just to avoidl

One day at a time is something to remember - that and it's never too late to start again.
