I take a multivitamin every morning...never miss it. I also take a hair and nail supplement. I don't know what is in it. Labs were normal for the first 5 or so years so they don't draw them anymore. I feel fine. take care, Tri
Hi Betty,
I hear you on the carbs and snacking... Once you get in the habit it is really hard to break free.
I actually had to lose weight over a year before Kaiser would allow me to have my WLS... So thought it is extremely hard, I know I can do it. But it's a struggle I stepped away from and my gain is the consequence. But time to fave up constructively .
Wish you success on your journey too :)
Hey bug! Thanks for posting.
it is a lifelong battle, but like you - I think these boards and this community is a great tool. I used it so much to prepare for my WLS and then during and right after. 7 years out and I took an inventory of why I was successful before... and support, tracking, sharing, preparation, planning, accountability, and measured thoughtful realistic steps and expectations... They all played a part.
I worked really hard prepping for and going through my surgery and the 2 years after... But around the 5 yr mark I started to lose my way... And structure... and original purpose... And drive. And frankly got lazy about my eating and choosing too many carbs and sugars and not tracking. It's not a surprise I gained some weight back ... But I have to be motivated (like I was to lose weight prior to my surgery and to have and supports surgery)
i think it takes time to pull that all back together again. (If you've dropped the habits and discipline as I have) but it's really good to be back on these boards and challenging myself. Facing up ... But not shaming ... That just makes me retreat. And eat. I just want to own it and start to lose.
Day by day... Step by step
Sending you support... Others have done it...so can we :)
I set a specific day to get back on track also and that was so I could stuff my face with my favorite things before starting over. There's nothing like gaining more weight before starting to eat right - I gained 11 lbs the month before my WLS too. Food (carbs) is very comforting to me. I have to take eating right a meal/ snack at a time. For me, it's so much easier to graze on junk food. But, the saying ... Losing the extra pounds means more to me now than a few minutes downing a bag of bakery cookies and feeling bad about myself. I would also like any tips on sticking with staying on track.
I'm seriously getting back on track. I joined Weigh****cher's online a few weeks ago. I also had my annual physical and my labs showed I'm anemic. I was looking for a list of vitamins & minerals we post-ops are to take. I've have been giving myself B-12 shots faithfully for 10 years but now need to get back to taking vits & mins that I'm supposed to take. Let me know if all of you are taking your vitamins & minerals daily. I had a gastric bypass rouen-y in January 2001. I now eat breakfast every day, and lunch & dinner. For a long time I just grazed because I do not like to cook for just one person - that HAS to change. Oh, and I'd rather have a root canal than step on the scales; I used my clothes as a check for gaining/losing weight, but now I must weigh weekly.
breakfast: Pure Protein w/banana in blender w/ice (yum)
lunch: steamed fresh green beans & new potatoes
snack: Flamous Falafel chips

Hi Botts
I had a ton of fun this weekend catching up with dear old friends. Totally went off track though so today I am starting over. I will clean for exercise because my house is a mess. Guests are gone and sheets need to be changed. I sent doggie bags home with them to get the tempting food out.
The plan today:
B: 1/2 omelet and rye toast
S: salad with ff dressing, avocado, seeds and craisins
L: stuffed pepper and red potato
S: fruit salad and plain Greek yogurt
D: veggie soup, whole grain tortilla, deli ham, rf cheese, free mayo
S: fruit salad, plain Greek yogurt
Hope everyone has a great day. Tri
I weigh in daily because it fluctuates and I don't want to miss a new re-lost pound. I am so very far above my red line that I can't see it in the near future. I know that exercise adds pounds too. That is hard to take. My biggest problem is portion distortion. I eat too much. I am back on track today. It is hard and I am so glad to read how others tackle their demons. I do so much better when I post my food journal. take care, Tri
You are doing great. The best part of this group is that no one is ever harsh. Our journeys are so difficult and we all understand that we are trying to find a way to be healthy. I found Santa Fe tortillas at Sams club. They are whole grain tortilla wraps. 8 gm fiber and 8 gm protein and 100 calories. I also drink Crystal light appletini flavor. take care, Tri
